To not do the Easter Bunny?

All the mums in DD's class seem to be doing it in a big way. They were talking about it at a party at the weekend and now I feel really guilty that we've never done it.
Dd is old enough to ask so I also feel bad as I don't have an explanation for why when she inevitably asks why she didn't get a visit from the Easter Bunny when everyone else did.
What would you say? Would you cave and just do it so she's not left out? I don't have any real opposition, just never grew up with it so haven't done it for mine either.

Huh? Don't be ridiculous, the tooth fairy and easter bunny being "legitimate" beings is not the only way to keep the magic of father Christmas alive.

Easter bunny seems to be a recent thing, maybe an import, that's why people are hostile to/confused about it. It's nothing to do with pride over not liking fun Confused

Surely folk are entitled to do or not do whatever they want provided they are not ruining anyone else's fun? What's fun to you isn't necessarily the same for everyone anyway.

I did it this year for the first time as DD (reception) came home excited about it, I don't think she remembers last year luckily.

I just hid some of those small gold galaxy eggs around the house once she was asleep, she knows the big eggs are from us/family.
I was a bit worried about her realising its not real and it ruining Santa/the tooth fairy (I don't know why but it seems slightly less believable somehow!)
I couldn't bring myself to say it wasn't real when she was so excited and talking about where her and her friends thought he was going to hide their eggs though so looks like we're stuck with it now!

My grandparents used to set up an egg hunt in their garden but they never pretended it was anyone other than them who had done so.

This weekend is literally the first time I have heard of people doing the Easter Bunny like Father Christmas. It's definitely very odd to me.

God no. My mum buys kids an egg. Job done. Iv never even mentioned the easter bunny

Fuck that...this easter bunny thing is ridicilous, hard enough keeping Santa Clause plausible while they are small let alone this...

No easter bunny here. Dc's get a small box of Lego/duplo each (about £5 spent on each child) from us and a chocolate egg each from other relatives.

FC was a real person tho - St Nicholas.

Don't think the tooth fairy and Easter bunny ever were Hmm
We did an egg hunt one year but it was sunny so some of the chocolate melted before the dc found it Grin

My friends who do the 'Easter bunny' do the following. Hide clues while the kids are asleep. Each clue leads to an egg and another clue. The end clue leads to an Easter basket which is filled with books, magazines, eggs and toys. It's all a bit much.

You may think it's a bit much. I'm sure the kids love it.
