To be annoyed that my neighbour took my washing in for me when it started raining?

Ok, yes I am being completely totally unreasonable, it was a lovely thought, she is very sweet.

However she just bunged it all in the basket and by the time I got home it was so creased. I am a bit control-freakery with my washing and I fold it and organise it into piles as I take it down from the line. I don't iron so this way works for me. Now I have a huge pile of creased unorganised washing to fold and sort.

Yes, I told you, I am being unreasonable, I should be thankful that I have such I lovely neighbour (I am, really) but I though you would all enjoy a bit of my grumpiness

Sorry not from Britain don't know the word myself

badelaide · 09/05/2007 16:30

laundrylover, something to do with making clothes very very flat, I think.

yomellamoHelly · 09/05/2007 16:46

Wish someone had done mine on monday.
Had 2 loads up and they got so wet and heavy in the 2 hours of torrential rain we had whilst we were out that the line broke and the washing blew backwards and forwards on the ground and was absolutely filthy afterwards. It's less work to just refold/sort than start from scratch.

laundrylover · 09/05/2007 16:54

Helly, what a nightmare.Am picturing you carrying a huge pile of muddy clothes in looking very bedraggled and swearing quietly!

Elasticwoman · 09/05/2007 17:07

My neighbour did the same, only he folded it all neatly. That's how I knew I hadn't done it. However that family are being very very very unreasonable by moving away from us! To the next street.

bossykate · 09/05/2007 17:17

i think majority of mners YABU.
wash the clothes again, if you dont want iron. simple! dont forget to put note to your neignbor too.

duomonstermum · 10/05/2007 19:01

ironing is called bleeping in our house! i have to admit to being a freak when it comes to washing. always have to have them small to big and all facing the same direction. have been known to go out and rehang them if they aren't just right. can't have anyone else hang them out so have been told not to complain about being the only one to do the washing.

my mum firmly belives that bleeping is a waste of time so i blame her for this habit. starting to border on ocd at times!

joben · 10/05/2007 19:10

and meanwhile over in Iraq.......Anybody out there with a sense of perspective or is it just me?

fruitful · 10/05/2007 19:15

nope, think it's just you

Cammelia · 10/05/2007 19:33

Putting out washing, now that's where YABU

Hang it carefully on a clothes rack near your aga like I do and you won't get any of that ghastly stiffness

Can be left overnight in all weathers

nightowl · 10/05/2007 19:51

i think your neighbour is a horrible person..how dare she touch your washing and soil it with her dirty fingers...and the creasing...!!! .

yes, you are being unreasonable...that's lovely and thoughtful of her...if you dont want her, send her here.

Spidermama · 10/05/2007 19:52

YABU sux.

CorrieDale · 10/05/2007 19:58

lol Badelaide. Think I might have to do similar coaching for DS. He picked up a toy iron today and used it like an electric sander - he even made the 'drrrrrr' noise while rubbing it up and down a piece of wood.

I also have to confess to being weirdly obsessive about pegging out, though not remotely so about ironing.

kitbit · 10/05/2007 20:45

slightly unreasonable about the neighbour, however really understand the control freaky part. I let ds help with the washing, but not dh. ds is 2.5 and does it better. I don't iron, I let the tumble dryer do it, or wear lycra. If I shake and fold loosely before it goes in it all comes out brilliantly. ds does it really meticulously but dh shoved it all in in a screwed up heap then puts it on "mega hot blast extra dry" to heat seal in all the creases. I only let him do it when it's his T shirts in there. nyarr har har

lapsedrunner · 10/05/2007 20:48

Haven't read whole thread but what's YABU? (someone, please?)

maisemor · 10/05/2007 20:50

YABU = You Are Being Unreasonable
YANBU = You Are Not Being Unreasonable.

It took a wee while, but I think I cracked the code on this one

lapsedrunner · 10/05/2007 20:55

Thanks
