To be annoyed that my neighbour took my washing in for me when it started raining?

Ok, yes I am being completely totally unreasonable, it was a lovely thought, she is very sweet.

However she just bunged it all in the basket and by the time I got home it was so creased. I am a bit control-freakery with my washing and I fold it and organise it into piles as I take it down from the line. I don't iron so this way works for me. Now I have a huge pile of creased unorganised washing to fold and sort.

Yes, I told you, I am being unreasonable, I should be thankful that I have such I lovely neighbour (I am, really) but I though you would all enjoy a bit of my grumpiness

I am with you with the folding and organising to avoid ironing at all costs, so I sympathise with the but bless her!

You know what you'll have to do now.

Wash and dry the whole lot again so it isn't creased

Popopo · 09/05/2007 12:35

YABU

I wish i had neighbours like yours! Sniff!

jdd0709 · 09/05/2007 12:35

but otherwise you'd have had a pile of organised, uncreased but very wet washing that would have needed to be washed or dried again. Yes you are being unreasonable, I think that is very sweet - but understand the laundry control freakery thing.

fryalot · 09/05/2007 12:36

yabu

but you know that

what you have to do now, though, is wait until she needs something doing, and do it

wrong

What a lovely neighbour

If she brought it in when it was raining, I expect that getting in quickly so she did not get too wet was more of a priority than sorting/folding your clothes for you. But I agree, she could have sat down with a cuppa and done this in the dryness of her own house tho...

lostinlace · 09/05/2007 12:37

She sounds very kind. Perhaps if you told her how much extra work she'd caused you, she'd help with the ironing? Or would that be pushing it a little?

cathcart · 09/05/2007 12:37

yabu! but i know where you are coming from - when my mum stayed after i had dd she was amazingly helpful - but i found i was bu to be annoyed at the way she pegged the clothes up

maisemor · 09/05/2007 12:37

You sound like me Do you take it down in categories as well, children's t-shirt first, then their trousers, socks, pants etc. so that when you get inside you go in to their room first to put their stuff away and then into your room with your stuff.
I am so sad

fruitful · 09/05/2007 12:38

I love MN. You just couldn't moan about this anywhere else, could you?

And I also think that washing it again would be less effort than ironing it!

throckenholt · 09/05/2007 12:38

I know what you mean about creased washing and nor ironing - I am the same.

Maybe tell her it was a lovely thought - but not to bother next time - it doesn't matter if it gets wet - you weren't in a hurry for it.

bran · 09/05/2007 12:39

YABU, but if you have an airer then put it all on that when you have a shower or hot bath most of the creases should drop out and it will respond obsessive compulsive folding.

When my mum came to visit I was unreasonably irritated that she loaded the dishwasher the 'wrong' way, so I sympathise.

Wallace · 09/05/2007 12:39

thanks for the sympathy and understanding

I should be folding it now, but keep getting distracted...

nogoes · 09/05/2007 12:39

I wouldn't like that tbh. Sort of thing my mil would do.

fruitful · 09/05/2007 12:39

Ooh Maisie I should be doing that! What a good idea.

OrmIrian · 09/05/2007 12:40

mildmanneredjanitor - "if she hadn't done it the washing would have been sokaing and manky and you might have had to washit again anyway". Why? I've seen people express this opinion before but I don't understand it. Is rain that grubby? If it fell off in a puddle I might understand... Sorry not meaning to pick on you but It's something I've never understood .

Yes OP YABU but I can see why it might irritate.

MrsRecycle · 09/05/2007 12:40

You are totally reasonable - my neighbour brings it all back folded and ironed (even the smalls!).

badelaide · 09/05/2007 12:40

not sad maisemor...for us non-ironers it's the only way to go

Kelly1978 · 09/05/2007 12:40

yes, get the iron out you lazy woman!

Blandmum · 09/05/2007 12:40

YABU

Wallace · 09/05/2007 12:40
