To think that shouting at me to keep that bloody child quiet as he has to work tomorrow an unreasonable response to me and child being covered in child's vomit

So, gone back to do some teacher training and as usual the kids get sick as soon as I start. DH is looking after the kids whilst I'm teaching and is also working shifts. His response to the baby being sick in the night is to shout at me to shut her up grrrrh

Agree with lucyellensmum about tiredness. When DH was away in the Navy he could only phone me at night for a while and about the 5th night in a row that he rang at 2 in the morning I woke up the next day aware that I'd woken up to the phone but could only remember saying "just f* off and leave me alone". When I managed to speak to him again a couple of days later that was apparently all I'd said to him then hung up

no you're not he's been very v. v. v. unreasonable, my DH doesn't do a huge amount around the house BUT when DS's have been sick, including travel sick it's always been a joint effort in cleaning up and comforting (ok i do more cleaning and he does more cuddles when clean). My DH has even picked DS2 up to comfort him when he said he felt sick knowing full well he was about to get covered...both then went in the shower together while i tried not to laugh

good luck in convincing your DH that parenting is for both of you!

Got a really full apology. He seems to think he wants right of reply, which should lead to some really interesting comments.

give him right of reply, would be interesting to hear his point of view - we wont bite, well not unless you ask us to . Like i say, tiredness is a evil thing

OrmIrian · 10/05/2007 12:21

He's knackered. So are you. But in this case it was him that was unreasonable. No point in playing the blame game IME - people behave badly when exhausted. He's apologised. Leave it at that.

From someone who has been known to walk out the door and down the street in the middle of the night in her dressing gown after one too many early hours wake-up calls

americantrish · 10/05/2007 15:08

sigh... hope he's apologised.
