It's not difficult, have you contacted your local cat charity? What's your home situation?

Mydoghatesthebath · 22/03/2018 09:09

Local cats shelter. Never had difficulty. What do you mean?

lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:10

I can offer a lovely caring home and it will be well cared for but rescue centres are shying away because at back of my flat is like a main road but it's not terribly busy really.

OP posts:
lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:11

I have looked for private and there are barely any and they have usually gone or people don't reply to my messages.
I have offered to keep cat as indoor only as well

lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:13

Basically I am in a bottom floor flat with front door onto a quiet street and then back kitchen door into garden that backs onto a road.

OP posts:
viccat · 22/03/2018 09:13

Is there a garden or direct access to a busy road?
Obviously a busy road is an issue, but you if you're open about the type of a cat then that should help. An older cat who won't want to wander far or one that's always been an indoor cat, etc.

Ellendegeneres · 22/03/2018 09:13

I found mine on gumtree. Terribly sad story, but outing.
We don’t live off a main road, but close enough to one- but no home check done.
Fortunately for her, it’s been the best thing that could happen to her, she’s settled in and loving her new life and family

lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:14

Does anybody know of pet sites with people wanting to rehome

OP posts:
lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:15

There is a garden all fenced off from road

ClaraLane · 22/03/2018 09:16

Don’t get one from a website, contact rescues near you and see what they say. If you’re happy to have an indoor cat then tell them, I’m sure they’ll (sadly) have plenty of suitable moggies for you.

lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:16

But obviously cats climb

Vinorosso74 · 22/03/2018 09:17

There are always indoor cats at rescues needing homes for many reasons (FIV, sight or hearing problems and just older cats who want a cosy home). Contact rescues to see if they have any suitable felines.
Please don't buy from online sellers!

Bobbinbora · 22/03/2018 09:18

lakia it can be a struggle if in rented accomodation. Many cats shelters near me don't rehome to non home owners. Also if they do a home check and you live near a busy road they may turn you down. Is this what happened?

We have noticed that 2 of our local cats protection league branches only have one cat listed online who are both "reserved". So it looks like they are "out of stock" of cats who are ready for rehoming. Smile

I'm sure I read it is almost kitten season though! So hang in there.

Bobbinbora · 22/03/2018 09:20

Oh sorry! I spent too long writing my short post and missed your update!

Sometimes there may be independant cat shelters on Facebook in your area. Have a look :)

Do you rent?

lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:26

Yes I rent why so many in rescue and none on websites hardly

OP posts:
lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:27

When I tell them there main road at back it puts them off so I don't take it further

OP posts:
lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:28

I just called one that said I can come and see the cats they just want a letter off a friend or somebody to say I have suitable premises and that's it.

OP posts:
lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:29

They don't even homecheck

OP posts:
PsychedelicSheep · 22/03/2018 09:32

I have just rehomed an ex breeding queen, she’s never been outside so I keep her indoors as the breeder requested.

There is a Facebook group called Neutered pedigree cat rehome, a lot of the cats looking for homes on there are indoor only.

hotcrossbunsandtea · 22/03/2018 09:33

Would you be open to rehoming an indoor-only cat? Lots of older cats can't go outside for health reasons, or because they've never had access to the outdoors and it would be considered too dangerous for them.

The best way to see what cats rescues have available is to ring and arrange a visit. Not all cats will be on websites and not all websites will be updated on a regular basis.

TheMogget · 22/03/2018 09:34

So get someone to write a letter saying what you've said here Confused

lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:36

I have never known of a rescue that doesn't homecheck

OP posts:
Vinorosso74 · 22/03/2018 09:37

The CP I'm at will let renters adopt but you need a permission letter from your landlord. There are usually more cats available than on the website-it's a matter of the staff getting the time to sit down and put new cats on there so it is worth ringing up.

lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:37

Oh well guess I will go and look

OP posts:
lakia10 · 22/03/2018 09:39

I wish there was centres where you could look at the cats available instead
