To think that people who use trolleys in supermarkets are lazy?

I mean, what's wrong with carrying your shopping in a basket FFS?

I don't use a trolley - I'm so lazy I don't actually leave the supermarket. Right now I'm in a 24-hour Asda, typing on a laptop, sitting in the electronics aisle watching the telly. When I get a tiny bit of energy together I'm going to waddle to the deli counter and eat all their roast chickens. DD is kept occupied in the toy aisle, I've made a makeshift stairgate at each end out of cereal boxes.

Ok then, next time i go shopping i will put my monkey facemask and carry one thousand "I am not a plastic bag" with my year old as a hat!

penmack · 08/05/2007 20:10

lol wkoo7 im asleep in the pillows waiting for my hudband to drive the car in and pick me up.

Hulababy · 08/05/2007 20:12

How odd! You must buy very small amounts at once. TBH though if I am shopping - do most online - I tend to use a trolley, even if the smaller ones, as then it gives me two hands free to shop with rather than having to keep putting the basket down.

Yeah - just gathered now I have tried reading the thread

ChocolateFace · 08/05/2007 20:18

Maybe they're fed up of their C's wanting to cary the basket.
Maybe they have a bad back.
Maybe run up an empty isle when no one's watching and ride the trolley for fun.
Maybe they see the trolleys first, outside, and forget they have baskets inside.
maybe theyr'e just lazy and cant' be bothered to hump a basket around.

lou031205 · 19/06/2008 20:10

I just eat it as I go around, put the wrappers in my pocket, and hand them over to the cashier at the till

snooks · 19/06/2008 20:15

i just carry several baskets at once - the other day i managed 4 on each arm

whoops - it wasn't funny the first time lol

BroccoliSpears · 19/06/2008 20:18

I take a rope and tie my groceries to it. It trails along behind me tripping people up, but at least I don't use a lazy-ass trolley.

geordieminx · 19/06/2008 20:19

I get a basket when I am just nipping in for a "few" bits... it never ends up just being a few - I end up looking like a bloody pack horse trying to balance fruitshoots, sausage rolls lentil cakes and museli on my head!!!

snooks · 19/06/2008 20:21

A rope?! If it's a really big shop I use a fishing net. Blardy cucumbers always fall out of the holes tho.

WendyWeber · 19/06/2008 20:23

The only time using a basket is a better idea is when you are going to have to walk home with it so you need to make sure the weight won't make you collapse in a whimpering heap halfway home.

[been there]

StealthPolarBear · 19/06/2008 20:24

I always get a basket
I push it around in a trolley

Flashman · 19/06/2008 20:24

If I had my way they would put an engine in the trolly - save me the effort of having to actually push.

StealthPolarBear · 19/06/2008 20:25

GM - even worse when you literally nip in for one thing and so don't get a basket even
3 loaves of bread, 4 pints of milk, 2 bars of chocolate a couple of bottles of that wine that was on offer later...

Flamesparrow · 19/06/2008 20:25

I had someone tell me off for being in the "basket" checkout with a trolley.

I had two things in the trolley - but also DS asleep in the thing!!!

StealthPolarBear · 19/06/2008 20:25

Flamesparrow - did you tell them it was a big basket on wheels?

bozza · 19/06/2008 20:26

Ah you see that is the idea. Stick basket in trolley. Then abandon trolley at check out and go into baskets only lane.

Flashman · 19/06/2008 20:27

Flame - did you answer them?

bozza · 19/06/2008 20:27

see flame you should have taken stealth's advice on that one and put a basket in your trolley. Never mind if you look ridiculous - presumably doesn't worry most of the rest of the posters on this thread.

TsarChasm · 19/06/2008 20:28

Lol what an odd thing to be bothered about!
