@lyndasnellsfeet NB is Natasha bailie

Mandeln · 26/03/2018 10:11

MammaH I totally agree about the Meldrums. They certainly seem to have plenty of money behind them.

Jemimafuckingpuddleduck · 26/03/2018 10:16

The Meldrums and Inghams...

Neither parents working, both 3+ kids, own houses, numerous holidays trips away, 2 cars and the CONSTANT buying...

Honestly how do they sustain that life, I know a lot of the "things" are given but where does the actual cash come from!!

NurseButtercup · 26/03/2018 10:23

@Jemimafuckingpuddleduck

I read somewhere that YouTube pays 9p per view per video. There's a reason that so many "families" are on YouTube giving up their jobs to post daily videos. Plus they also receive cash from the paid sponsorships.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 26/03/2018 10:24

Does anyone really have a life coach?! Mary meadows is making a pretty penny from Natasha!

BettyDimples · 26/03/2018 10:29

I’ve followed these threads since the original in September last year, and I’m finding this counterbalance on what Instagram (and a lot of social media) is doing in our lives a really interesting and relevant conversation. I don’t blame any larger instagram mums themselves, I’m sure nobody is a bad person- I may not find them interesting/relatable but it seems no accident that the large accounts in lots of areas (interiors, parenting, baby loss) are of a very similar mould. That is predominately white, middle class and London based, and that doesn’t sit well with me especially when it isn’t a platform that encourages anyone to check their privilege. (BTW I am white and middle class, just northern). This isn’t anything new- print media also centred around this, but it is a platform you can choose to opt out of.
There’s a few things that have specifically bothered me about MOD’s account, above the concerns over child safety.

  1. they went on a trip to Madagascar with water aid- fantastic use of their following. However, in the hidden ad for her very expensive washing machine, she mentioned doing two lots of washing a day. Right, glad that had an impact on your privilege then, and how it’s a necessity to do 14 lots of washing a week apparently. Especially because one of the reasons was FOD always wanted clean clothes after every ‘dad in task’ or some shit.
  2. the # fannyadmin. FFS, as a midwife, this is just totally irresponsible. I don’t think I even need to explain why.
MammaH2018 · 26/03/2018 10:32

The meldrums live a life that many of us can only dream of. He worked off shore, granted, but he’s not done that now for over a year - so unless he was earning massive amounts of money and they have saved it all I can’t work out how they sustain it?
She has never worked - pregnant in uni and has been at home with the kids since then so aside from you tube the only money they appear to have had is from his off shore salary...

Recently they have been posting about looking to buy a plot of land and build a new house... that kind of money doesn’t just come in from a few ads on you tube!

It makes me laugh though, they food shop in Aldi and clothes shop in Primark - but drive to town in the BMW, go back to their fancy house in the well to do suburbs, plan their expensive holidays and expect everyone to buy into it?

It’s not real life. I’d have more respect if they were just honest about it - just say that you have wealthy parents who have given you financial help!!

I like some of her videos so I don’t watch them occasionally but it’s all getting a little bit samey now

User80656448969 · 26/03/2018 10:42

I was also disturbed by the fanny admin post.

mammyoftwo · 26/03/2018 10:42

The meldrums are the least authentic bloggers out there. So many reasons. Also, it feels recently they've been auditioning for Gleam features (the wife popping up randmly in sprinkf of glitter vlogs etc)

Just looked up sacconejoly date rape "joke", horrific. What's even worse is the minimalisation of it by Anna and Johnathon.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 26/03/2018 10:46

Betty Totally agree with you about the two loads of washing a day. Totally unnecessary and sits especially uncomfortably against the Water Aid thing.

Not sure what's wrong with the #fannyadmin though - do you mean she shouldnt be encouraging women to wax their fanjos because it doesn't matter and as a Midwife she has seen it all anyway? I thought the fanny admin thing was about getting smear tests done as well?

AClearShotOfTheStreet · 26/03/2018 10:48

What was the fanny admin post?

mammyoftwo · 26/03/2018 10:48

I'm scared to ask, what is fannyadmin???

BettyDimples · 26/03/2018 10:49

The fanny admin was all about waxing, and sadly nothing about smear tests!
Totally poor use of her influence and really naive.

LyndaSnellsFeet · 26/03/2018 10:50

fanny admin was about smear tests as well, she posted about that as well as waxing.

(And yes, why add to the whole world of whether waxed fanjos should be a thing. I just wouldn’t share what I did with mine whatever the size of the audience I’m talking to, but especially to perpetuate this thing that we should add it as another thing to consume by jokingly calling it ‘admin’

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 26/03/2018 10:53

I saw a fanny admin story about smear tests? It was linked to the waxing but she was definitely talking about smear tests being part of your fanny admin! She had just been for hers that day I think.

I can't get worked up about the fanny admin. And I certainly don't do much administrative work with my fanny!

BettyDimples · 26/03/2018 10:54

Oh maybe I missed the smears thing, so I apologise for that. But still, why connect a necessary (your health) to an unnecessary (the way you look)

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 10:55

It the fannyadmin thing she was going on about the place she got it done.... Gave a lot of mentions to strip.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 26/03/2018 10:56

Yes, I guess calling it 'admin' makes it sound like waxing is something you have to be doing to keep your life in order.

I didn't get that from the posts though, maybe I didn't think it through. As I said before my fanny admin is zero, apart from the smear tests.

BettyDimples · 26/03/2018 10:58

Ha, yes, it’s definitely not on my list of admin either

Stellastartsitall · 26/03/2018 11:01

Mod even calls her online grocery shop admin Hmm

Babaloo88 · 26/03/2018 11:03

yes FOd’s videos really doesn’t paint a greatness picture for dad’s. There are a lot of useless men out there just like with mums. However a big influencer like him
Should be the one trying to break away from ‘all dads are useless/daddy day care’ stigma.

AdidasGirl · 26/03/2018 11:04

@Goingovertosusanshouse And Natasha has gained he majority of her followers because of Asha.

AdidasGirl · 26/03/2018 11:07

Apologies @Goingovertosusanshouse Just caught up with the bread and you are so right.NB tries every 'trend' to be one of the cool kids or one of the big players in the Instamum game.
