To hate it when people shout/scream/wail during applause?

I'm not sure if this is me being unjust and picky or is it something that annoys others too.

Why on earth do people feel the need to scream and shout "woooooo" "eyyyy" as loud as they can during an applause. It's so vulgar.

I was at a concert the other night at the RAH and the girl nearby screamed at every ovation; leaving my ears sore.

I've also noticed that there is a common theme amongst those who do so. This must be considered uncouth?

I think it’s fine at comedy or music gigs or at sport. I think not appropriate for classical music concert /opera except hurrah or bravo.

Those calling out ‘bravo’ I do hope you remember that it’s ‘brava’ for the female soloists and ‘bravi’ for the chorus. Otherwise it’s frightfully common. Smile

Bunch of dullards

there is something about whooping that isn't real. it isn't like a gasp or a "yes" or a "brava!" or a "bravo!". It's more of a "yes I'm here" noise.

so on balance yanbu.

However, it follows that I reserve the right to laugh appreciatively throughout performances of Hadyn string quartets as they are witty. I'm sure the OP won't mind.
