Stub toe - reflex is to stamp on the stubbed toe right??

PurpleDaisies · 17/03/2018 13:13

No.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 17/03/2018 13:13

erm, no, why would you do that?

Chwaraeteg · 17/03/2018 13:14

WTF? No.

PaperdollCartoon · 17/03/2018 13:14

No, surely that just makes it hurt more?!

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 17/03/2018 13:14

Not stamp, but sort of press down on it with the other foot sometimes. It seems to help.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 17/03/2018 13:15

If I knock my elbow I instinctively grab it too, so presumably a similar reaction.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 17/03/2018 13:15

No I believe the correct procedure (according to my handbook I got when I took possession of this body) is swear in numerous forms, call into question the legitimacy of the object you stubbed your toe on and then clutch toe as if it's been mauled by werewolves.

Origamoo · 17/03/2018 13:15

What? No! Why?!?

WorzelsCornyBrows · 17/03/2018 13:16

I press on it with the heel of my other foot. Just a reflex I guess.

MargotLovedTom1 · 17/03/2018 13:16

No but I'd squeeze it which seems to deaden the pain somewhat.

falsepriest · 17/03/2018 13:17

Usually shout FUUUUUCK and go get a Wine

AnneOfCleavage · 17/03/2018 13:18

Not stamp per se but i do know what you mean because when you stub your toe your first reaction is to rub it, possibly vigorously, with the other foot. Is it for circulation do we think? Natural reaction I always felt.

NannyR · 17/03/2018 13:19

I wouldn't stamp on it but my instinct would be to squeeze it tightly/stand on it as the pressure relieves the pain temporarily, same with trapped or banged fingers.

Ruffian · 17/03/2018 13:21

Ouch - no! I rub my arm vigourously to distract my brain from the pain.

EduCated · 17/03/2018 13:22

Don’t stamp, but do squeeze! Guess it’s the same basic reaction.

restingbemusedface · 17/03/2018 13:26

Not stamp but put my other foot on it yes

Spudlet · 17/03/2018 13:26

MothertotheLords I believe you have hit upon the medically advised procedure there.

Addendum: if you actually break the stubbed toe (which I have managed, THAT was a fun morning), taking a knee and clutching the mishapen appendage while wheezing 'Fuuuuuuuuuuck fuuuuuuuuuuuck fuuuuuuuuuuuuck,' in a high-pitched whisper is also totally helpful.

VioletteValentia · 17/03/2018 13:29

What the shit?

isupposeitsverynice · 17/03/2018 13:34

yes! i push down and away from my foot, as if easing the toenail back out from where it's been jammed

No

LightDrizzle · 17/03/2018 13:42

No!
Hop around swearing like a demon is the correct response.

megletthesecond · 17/03/2018 13:43

No.
But many years ago I read a woo book on Shamanism and apparently you're meant to recreate the injury without actually hurting yourself. And it should stop hurting Hmm.

laddylonglocks · 17/03/2018 14:17

I do stand on it with my other foot to try and squash the pain, kinda like leaning on the couch/kitchen counter when I have period pain! It does work.

toffee1000 · 17/03/2018 14:26

No! I don’t stand on it either, or any of that. Why would you cause yourself more pain on top of an already sensitive toe??
