To think that Anne Hegerty was only stating the truth?

On TWS today AH was discussing the gender pay gap. She didn't think that there was an old boys' network nowadays. Paris Lees disagreed.
Anne said 'Well you would know. You used to be a boy.' My jaw dropped.

I really cannot stand Paris Lees.

How is Anne fabulous if she's denying the existence of the things that keep women excluded?

Iminthecclubnow · 15/03/2018 12:25

Does anyone know what Anne did before The Chase? Did she have a high powered job?

Iminthecclubnow · 15/03/2018 12:27

Saying that women aren't getting high plaid jobs because they aren't going after them is not the same as saying they aren't going after them because they aren't trying as hard.

I thought it was generally accepted that women dont go after high paid jobs in the way that men do? The question is why they don't go after them.

Sanderz · 15/03/2018 12:29

Iminthecclubnow she said she didn't care about the gender pay gap.

When asked why not she said something like "well if women want the high powered jobs they have to go after them".

If I'm remembering that wrong I'm very sorry and I take it all back.

BishopBrennansArse · 15/03/2018 12:30

I consider her fabulous as a fellow autistic woman. She uses her public profile to highlight the difficulties autistic women face in society the biggest being the lack of recognition.

I don't actually agree with her on this particular issue, but then there are very few in the public eye I agree with about everything.

Sanderz · 15/03/2018 12:32

Yes, that's understandable Bishop. I get really animated about the pay gap, it's my pet peeve.

OtherPeople · 15/03/2018 12:35

Yeah, I’ve been known to be a bit of an Anne fan, but she came across appallingly here.

derxa · 15/03/2018 12:36

So yeah, I’m a bit of a slut. I also used to be a prostitute. And before that, well, a boy. Uh-huh. And I’m a total attention junkie. So I may – may – not represent all women. Who does, though? I’m a feminist because I don’t like men telling me how to think or behave or experience the world and I don’t like women doing it, either.
Paris Lees' own words. So she may not have been offended.

I'm watching on plus one and can't find the comment? Anyone know if it has been edited out? At what point did she say it?

I don't watch the program normally and won't again; Christ it's annoying. What a knob MW is.

I'm a TERF I suppose but I thought Paris spoke a lot of sense. Anne on the other hand seemed vile, autism or not. She said she prefers men and doesn't trust women ffs!

derxa · 15/03/2018 12:43

I'm watching on plus one and can't find the comment? Anyone know if it has been edited out? At what point did she say it? During a discussion about gender pay gap. The whole thing has been cut out. So much for freedom of speech.

Seems Anne might be clues into the shit. This was from January. Makes me love her all the more.

To think that Anne Hegerty was only stating the truth?
CadyHeron · 15/03/2018 12:46

The whole thing has been cut out

Shock FGS.

expatinscotland · 15/03/2018 12:51

'During a discussion about gender pay gap. The whole thing has been cut out. So much for freedom of speech.'

FFS

Elendon · 15/03/2018 13:01

I agree with Paris Lees on this though (now my jaw is dropping) because I still believe there still exists an old boy's network.

hmcAsWas · 15/03/2018 13:02

Absolutely agree with Sanderz

"She doesn't think there's an old boys' club, she thinks that women don't have high-powered job because they aren't "going after them" and she doesn't care about the gender pay gap!

She's a knob"

She also said that she prefers women to men.

LemonadeWithACherry · 15/03/2018 13:02

'The whole thing has been cut out. So much for freedom of speech.'

Wow. That is shocking.

BishopBrennansArse · 15/03/2018 13:03

@Sanderz absolutely - it's infuriating. It even takes place in such high profile areas as Matt Smith/Claire Foy for Netflix.

hmcAsWas · 15/03/2018 13:03

..oh and she was very dismissive about "The Problem With Men" conference

hmcAsWas · 15/03/2018 13:04

I've gone right off her

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/03/2018 13:07

I dont suppose she's particularly in love with you either, hmc.Grin

anothermalteserplease · 15/03/2018 13:31

Anyone who has worked in any profession or in the city knows that there’s an old boys club that discriminates against pretty much anyone who isn’t white, male, middle-upper class. That’s a fact and a very damaging one. That’s where the fight should be in my opinion, not a small minority of people who are transgender.

BriennetheBeauty · 15/03/2018 13:43

Iminthecclubnow - she used to be a librarian and proofreader, so no not high powered, unless you think they're high powered jobs.

PrincessScarlett · 15/03/2018 13:43

"She also said she prefers women to men".

If you're talking about Ann here she actually said she prefers men to women as men are more trustworthy.

clevername · 15/03/2018 14:10

It wasn't cut out. Not in my TV, anyway... I watched it on plus 1 and saw it in all of its awkward glory.
