Should I get my dentist struck off?

She praised how well I'd done today. But at the end I did not receive ONE sticker despite being an excellent patient. Just because I'm 35 doesn't mean I shouldn't deserve one.

Can I get her fired for gross misconduct? Or should I just grow up and buy my own "You're Brave" sticker?

I know someone who was a particularly nervous patient. Having moved she went to a new dentist. After the first session the dentist said "I think we will try Valium next time". When she said she didn't know if she wanted to take it he said "It's not for you".

I work in the same building as the GDC, do you want me to pop up and have a word?

MrsExpo · 15/03/2018 07:42

I had a root canal done this week, and all I got was a bill for £350.00. I’m going straight back there to demand my “I’m a brave little soldier” sticker. Grin .... utterly outrageous that I didn’t get one.

Sounds like this isn't an isolated case. Thought it might be one bad apple but seems this is rife.

Would a protest march work?

When I was a kid I went to one of two dentists in the local practice who never gave stickers. Didn't matter how much work you'd had done, there were rolls of stickers on display too, I never had one.

The rest of my class went to the other practice dentist. Not only did they get a sticker that they proudly wrote on their chests they often had an extra sheet of 6 stickers too Shock

Scarred for life. YANBU.

Right, I've got my speech all ready for confronting her and getting my sticker. Planning on finishing my argument with "The tooth hurts doesn't it, as I saunter out".

do you at least get told well done and good girl? pat on head optional.

MereDintofPandiculation · 15/03/2018 11:29

I want a sticker from my hygienist. Dentists have it easy nowadays - they've shuffled off the nasty work to the hygienist. It's the hygienist who does the stuff the dentist used to do - sticking metal hooks under your teeth, applying whiny high speed polishers to your teeth and uncovering all the tender spots. The dentist just looks and tells you how healthy your gums are. Don't mind seeing the dentist, it's the hygienist I run away from.

I got a sticker last time I went. I'm 59! Blush

hopeful31yrs · 15/03/2018 12:19

Oh come on! Not one "cancel the cheque" Comment?

Lentilbaby · 15/03/2018 12:32

LTB (or should that be LTD - leave the dentist!)

Grin
DammitPatrice · 15/03/2018 12:39

I got one with the Hulk on it.

(OK, technically it was given to my 4 year old, but I told her to brush her teeth, so I'm having it)

alligatortoss · 15/03/2018 12:45

Threads like this make my toes curl. It’s so twee

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 15/03/2018 12:47

Ours gives mini tubes of sensodyne and Colgate...last time I got given 12 (not sure wether that was a hint or I did so well I deserved extra...)

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 15/03/2018 12:48

So why bother commenting Alligator? Have you nowt better to do?

WordWeasel · 15/03/2018 12:53

Doesn't this count as age discrimination? Which is surely against all their codes of practice?

user1471517900 · 15/03/2018 13:17

Alligator sounds a bit snappy.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 15/03/2018 13:33

Maybe Alligator is your dentist OP... Afterall their name suggests teeth ...

Tenroundswithmiketyson · 15/03/2018 13:34

That's outrageous. No wonder the NHS is on its knees

flippyfloppyflower · 15/03/2018 13:39

That is dreadful treatment - I would LTD immediately and only register with a Dentist who knows how to treat his patients (free toothpaste, stickers and balloons) Smile
