Imagine you get taken on a date - first one was very cheap, your choice, second one he takes you to dinner (was supposed to be his treat) but you’re running late so offer to split. He doesn’t push it and insist on paying.

You then also pay for the Uber back to your house, which is a good £30. Am unimpressed

I take back all my previous post on this thread.

On the basis the the man did not send a carriage to collect OP and her chaperone, then pay for all food and drink for three of them and then provide a carriage home for her and her chaperone, he is obviously a cad and a bounder.

He should be named and shamed on here was a warning to other fair maidens!

Maybe you need to try and communicate more clearly and effectively. In life/love and on mumsnet

LIZS · 14/03/2018 21:59

You offered to pay and the uber was only for you. Why blame him?

ferriswheel · 14/03/2018 22:01

I think he is rude.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 14/03/2018 22:07

So to clarify, who is unimpressed- you or your 'friends'? Hmm

DietCokeGirrrrrl · 14/03/2018 22:08

I think since you offered he wasn't unreasonable to accept. Also the way you offered it made it sound like you really wanted to pay to make up for being late so maybe he thought he was doing what you wanted. Also I think the uber is totally your responsibility and not really anything to do with him.

donquixotedelamancha · 14/03/2018 22:32

I was the only one in the Uber

So your friends have an issue that you split the meal and paid for your own taxi?

Are your friends all mail order brides?

gingergenius · 14/03/2018 22:43

If I'd offered to pay for dinner, my date was running late and offered to pay/pay half I'd have probably said yes and if I wax t sharing an Uber to get home, it would not cross my mind to pay for it.
