Just found out that someone has stolen one of the portable DVD players from the children’s ward at our local hospital.
What sort of a scumbag do you have to be to do that?! 😡

There are people who target hospitals rather than just nick things because they happen to be there.

Hospitals are easy targets. Lots of people who have stuff on their minds, anyone can get in, its hard to tell if someone is there for nefarious reasons.

I worked in a hospital for a long time. I remember when they replaced the IT. All new desk top PCs all over the hospital.
Someone came in the next evening and stole 80% of them.

People don't question other people wandering in and out carrying equipment.

I work for a charity and we commonly have staff stealing from our shops, either creaming off stock to sell on eBay or till fraud. I'd say we get around 10 cases a year and that's probably the tip of the iceberg. Some people are just cunts.

Weren't the WAYL (who are you Ltd) and MIA registration schemes meant to address these issues? I know people who've been denied access to hospitals because they don't have their MIA/WAYL cards/credentials on them and up-to-date.

My ds was in SCBU for a month over the Christmas period. Our car keys were stolen out of DH's coat pocket while we were visiting. But (perhaps weirdly) what I thought was even worse was that by the time Boxing Day came round virtually every single Christmas decoration had been nicked off the little tree in the waiting area.

I hope there is a special extra toasty space in hell for people who nick things from hospitals and care homes.

Some people are real bastards.

The town next to ours had its AED, the defib, stolen. They are expensive but what kind of terrible person is happy to break into something that houses something to save lives. What if someone died because the defib wasn't there? How could you live with yourself?

These stories are grim.

What reasons do thieves give if they are caught? What do they think if their own property is stolen? I can’t get my head around it.

Someone walked into our outpatient reception area and took the Xmas tree, lights and all. Just unplugged and walked out with it.
