Am I the only one to think the latest Irn Bru advert is in very poor taste, they say it's humour, REALLY ? I have visions of children in playgrounds all shouting 'can't ' and thinking it funny because they know exactly what they mean

Well I think irn bru is now in poor taste since they ruined it by taking the sugar out

Hungrymonk82 · 13/03/2018 07:12

I'd love to know what makes Irn Bru chavy???

Wow speakout I really hope your being a tad sarcastic in your last post?! Firstly Scotch is a drink and are you really suggesting the vast majority of Scots are thick as mince?

shakeyourcaboose · 13/03/2018 07:35

cream you missed a 'will nobody think of the children' in your pearl clutching there. Bit of a visceral reaction to a fizzy drink! And you should probably let Health Scotland know you've solved the dental issues and that it's nothing to do with health inequalities, just these vulgar adverts...

speakout · 13/03/2018 07:41

shakeyourcaboose I agree.
In fact I would go so far as to say that creambun is a genius.

Creambun2 · 13/03/2018 07:45

So you think it is acceptable for infant and primary kids to be swilling down irn bru on the way to after school? Or is this part of the curriculum for excellence now?

speakout · 13/03/2018 07:49

Or is this part of the curriculum for excellence now?

You can't help yourself can you.

shakeyourcaboose · 13/03/2018 07:51

Well of course it's not just acceptable, it's clearly mandatory, although they don't actually learn to swill it down till National 5's, before that it's the caregivers responsibility- that's what the 'l' in SHANARRI is for... Irn Bru of course! Wink

LagunaBubbles · 13/03/2018 07:52

Chavy drink? It's a fizzy drink, just when you thought you had seen it all on MN some person (clearly not Scottish either as we don't use the word Chav!) judges a fizzy drink! Grin

Fluffyears · 13/03/2018 07:55

NED not CHAV. Do other people in Britain notbdrink any sugary drinkd like the delightful 7 teaspoons of sugar cans of coke?

StoorieHoose · 13/03/2018 07:56

Where on the chav drink scale does irn bru sit compared to say Cola or Capri sun? (Oh and it’s neds up here not chavs)

Fluffyears · 13/03/2018 07:56

Also if you call me scotch i’ll Probably chib you (the Scots will get this).

schrodingerstwat · 13/03/2018 07:57

@UnicornRainbowColours

people who use the word "Chavy" just scream "lack of breeding and manners"; it's written all over 'em. Grin

jaseyraex · 13/03/2018 08:02

Don't be a can't OP Grin

It's just a flipping advert. Why must people be offended by everything?

lecossaise · 13/03/2018 08:06

I bet the old "Even though I used to be a man" one went down well with Mumsnet!

This one is just silly.

mintich · 13/03/2018 08:07

Hahaha "scotch" what an idiot. Anyway, shouldn't feed the troll.
I think the Irn Bru advert is funny, it's just a bit cheeky nothing more

shakeyourcaboose · 13/03/2018 08:10

@stooriehoose, it's below these of course, but they are all far below blue twist'n'squeeze. Raspberry flavour of course!

Do they still sell Sunny D? Now that was a sugary drink! Grin

Stillonthatbloodycomputer · 13/03/2018 08:15

Wow I didn't see that lot coming, oh well ms's are a mixed bunch and obviously we all have differing opinions on standards of acceptablity . I stand by my original comment, I'm certainly not a prude by any stretch of the imagination but imo this advert has gone a step too far,

OP posts:
Fluffyears · 13/03/2018 08:19

But can’t in Scotland is different from a southern sound. We pronounce the u properly. Whoever says scots are prudish has no idea, watch billy Connelly, chewing the fat and still game and come back and say that!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 13/03/2018 08:20

Are you winding us up op? Hmmmm? You sound like youre shaking a fist to the sky a bit too much. Grin

TeeniefaeTroon · 13/03/2018 08:22

@speakout
Scotch?? 😂😂
And you think we have limited intelligence? 😂

CoolCarrie · 13/03/2018 08:25

It’s fizzy, it’s ginger, it’s phenomenal! Well it was, but at least we can still get the proper sugar version here for the time being, at least.
