I ordered some flowers for my mum to be delivered today. I have got an email at 4pm saying they will be unable to deliver, have cancelled my order and given me £10 goodwill Angry
AIBU that they shouldn’t have been taken by surprise it Mother’s Day?

I used to use a local florist that is 5 minutes walk from my Mum’s house. They were great - not cheap, but lovely flowers. I stopped when they started charging £15 delivery. Unsurprisingly, they went out of business.

M & S flowers turned up fine yesterday, although Yodel just dumped them in the porch and didn’t bother ringing the bell. So my Mum wouldn’t have known they were there if I hadn’t called her!

That’s pretty rubbish. I was a bit disorganised this year and ordered flowers from Bunches on the Friday morning with normal free delivery and they got there on the Saturday. I was really impressed. M&S shouldn’t be cancelling orders in that way.

LakieLady · 12/03/2018 08:34

Last year I sent a bereaved friend some M&S flowers. She received an M&S desk instead. Thanks, Yodel hmm

That's awful, but I'm afraid it made me lol. Blush

Same problem here - nothing arrived until a £10 evoucher appeared in my inbox around 3:45 and then at 4 an email telling me that Mum’s flowers would not be delivered yesterday. Not sure whether that means they’ll be delivered today though as they still show as out for delivery when tracking! Just not good enough at all. Mother’s Day flowers should arrive on the day! I should have played safe and had them delivered on the Saturday. Won’t be using them again!

I never send flowers. I only do flowers if I am able to deliver them personally so I know what they look like and they will get there. If I'm sending something I prefer to send a gift.

I do think companies that employ outsourced delivery companies should be compelled to specify who they use before you order. I've had so many rubbish experiences with Yodel that I actively avoid companies that use them. Amazon was great when they used Royal Mail (they fortunately still do, it seems, for a lot of small orders) but Amazon Logistics is the work of the devil too.

We had a bit of a weird situation with them where we ordered on Friday morning to be delivered on Saturday (we always do the day before as Sunday is usually crazy for deliveries so it buys us some wiggle room) - got an email on Friday afternoon saying "your flowers have been despatched", another on Saturday saying "here's your 10 quid e-gift voucher", and another worry-inducing email on Sunday afternoon saying they'd refunded the whole lot! After a call to customer service, it turned out that the flowers were out for delivery on Sunday (and mum received them and said they were stunning), but as M&S had missed the original Saturday delivery date they hadn't charged us for the order (despite having ultimately sent it in time for Mother's Day) and had also given us the goodwill amount. If they've done the same to others in our situation they must have lost a fortune!

I’d never order flowers from M&S again, which is a shame because their selection in store is great. We ordered for MIL last tear as we wouldn’t be seeing her, and she was very embarrassed to send us photos of a very clearly dead plant that was delivered. M&S refunded us but that hardly helps does it?

DaisyInTheChain · 12/03/2018 09:52

Complain, complain, complain.

I worked for a flower distributor and say flowers didn't turn up or weren't all that nice, you'd send out replacement bouquet, give money off, depending how much they shouted you'd get an upgrade sent out and refund, sometimes with champagne & chocs added on, sometimes all that and even compo.

You obviously heard some heart breaking stories or people who knew how to embellish things.

Don't let them get away with it.

I’m not the only one looking at their Twitter feed. And some of the flowers that did arrive looked terrible.

The desk story is awful but did bring a smile with its randomness

They are having a nightmare flowers-wise clearly. DH ordered some for me for delivery Saturday. They didn’t turn up. He only found out as he received a random gift voucher by email. He rang them. They admitted screwup and said new flowers would be delivered Tuesday (tomorrow). They also gave him another gift voucher. Ok. Fine.
I get a knock yesterday (Sunday) with 2 lots of flowers! Lucky I was in. Anyway I now have many flowers (don’t actually own a vase) and DH has his money back. I wonder why it’s all gone so horribly wrong.

BringMeTea · 13/03/2018 11:53

Well, my third bouquet arrived this morning! Grin

GloGirl · 13/03/2018 12:24

Ha! You must be a lovely person clearly BringMe!

Here, have another Grin Flowers
