...soft top sports car? (its an old alpha romeo spider, for any car buffs out there).

he bought it for 7k, without discussing it properly with me first. it has no rear belts yet. he plans to get them fitted. it is v small. it has a tiny benach seat in the back. it has no roll bar. he says it has a 'strong windscreen'. fat lot of good that'll be in a collision.

i doubt he'll even get the booster seats in it, tbh, but supposing he can fit them properly, what would you say?

7k is alot to spend with out asking you first. And to put dd2 into it was reckless.

But maybe he was trying to do something romantic for you both to do together. [reaching]

After all every couple needs time alone without the dc's.

I'm afraid I forced my dh to sell his beloved S2000 when I was pregnant with ds, on the (reasonable) grounds that it has no back seats. He still has his 'secondary' sportscar (a Honda Beat) but only until it gets old. If he was well and if we could afford it, I would have no particular objections to an Alpha. But it would be for us two only, would never put a child in it, and would be extremely unhappy at him not consulting beforehand. Would he like it if you spent 7 grand on something without asking?

Noornar I would have it back on Ebay or loot .
DH1 went and got a 4x4 jeep thing, he brought it home on Thursday and I sold t on Saturday, it was too big and too expensive to run.

I would not put my children in a soft top full stop, even one with seats and seat belts.

We have an open top car dating from 1936 and we travel in it all the time. We have had seat belts fitted though. Also have a 1955 cinquecento. Our children adore both cars and we have great fun going out and about in them.

What a fab car.

Sorry, yes I'd be annoyed with him for spending the money without consultation, but no I'd let my children get in it.

And I'd be in like Flynn in the morning.
