...soft top sports car? (its an old alpha romeo spider, for any car buffs out there).

he bought it for 7k, without discussing it properly with me first. it has no rear belts yet. he plans to get them fitted. it is v small. it has a tiny benach seat in the back. it has no roll bar. he says it has a 'strong windscreen'. fat lot of good that'll be in a collision.

i doubt he'll even get the booster seats in it, tbh, but supposing he can fit them properly, what would you say?

no. no and no.

BandofMothers · 05/05/2007 19:40

I'd say, NOT A CHANCE IN HELL, ARE YOU CRAZY?????

NotanOtter · 05/05/2007 19:42

surely he wont want to

WigWamBam · 05/05/2007 19:43

I'd say "Piss off, it's not going to happen".

Stupid man.

noonar · 05/05/2007 19:45

ok, dh must be mad then , cos he thinks it'd be fine for short journeys.

just wanted to get some perspective on this, as i'm so cross that he bought the bloody thing.

he has already driven dd2 in it once. she's 2.9. he put her in the front, on her 5 yo sister's booster seat (which has a back). it was only a couple of blocks, but i was still mad at him.

Um, most accidents happen within 5 miles of home, and she is too little for a booster. Smack him round the back of the head and tell him not to be so fucking irresponsible.
That is his daughters life he is playing with and while he could be the most responsible, wonderful driver in the world, you don't know which arsehole is going to be driving at the same time as you.

You can not trust drivers these days.

noonar · 05/05/2007 19:52

thansk, BoM. tbh, i'm not really v happy about HIM driving it either, even when he has no passengers. why is the silly sod refusing to admit that it cannot possibly be a safe choice of vehicle.

its parked outside, has been for 5 days. am still refusing to go and look at it properly.

Defenitly not safe for the kids. Is there another car or is this it?

BandofMothers · 05/05/2007 20:01

Is he having a midlife crisis???

moominsmummy · 05/05/2007 20:11

wouldn't it be tragic if it got stolen?
not that one can arrange these things..........

VeronicaMars · 05/05/2007 20:11

Did he purchase a fake ponytail to wear while he is driving it.

Itsnoteasybeingcheesy · 05/05/2007 20:16

lol! he's 35, so a bit young for a mid life crisis.

he's now got got the hump with me, cos i've refused to go out with him in the morning in it, while my mum has the girls.

he bought the car. against my wishes. and somehow I'M the unreasonable one. wtf.

scatterbrain · 05/05/2007 20:19

I would - quick risk assessment and then YES !!!

Aloha · 05/05/2007 20:20

noonar · 05/05/2007 20:21

So romantic and well.....classic !

noonar · 05/05/2007 20:27

i dont want to go in it because i'm still annoyed with him for making an executive decision with our money, and for buying a car that i dont feel that we can enjoy as a family.

no, he has another car, too. i hate that one more, but for different reasons. (it's too antisocial to name on MN )

scatterbrain · 05/05/2007 20:28

Ahhh - I see !!

You'll love it !

lemonaid · 05/05/2007 20:34

With proper seatbelts and age-appropriate seats/boosters, yes. Without, not a chance.

But buying the car against your wishes and expecting you to be happy is unreasonable.
