“You really are some sort of girl aren’t you!”

It means he's a twat.

steff13 · 05/03/2018 22:59

What were you doing when he said it?

SnibbleAgain · 05/03/2018 22:59

What quacks said.

PointlessUsername · 05/03/2018 22:59

Makes him sound a cocky arsehole.

taffett · 05/03/2018 23:00

Context?

catsoup · 05/03/2018 23:00

Yuk. What he means is, he's intimidated by you and can't handle it. That's what I would take it to mean.

doubleshotespresso · 05/03/2018 23:01

I think Quacks sums it all up just nicely...

What Quacks said

allforequality · 05/03/2018 23:05

I'm imagining it said in a Southern American accent by a cowboy who is full of admiration for your incredible bull rounding skills having just singlehandedly coralled them back into their pen?

As in 'yee-ha, you really are some sort of girl aren’t you!”

OR as you struggle to open a jam jar lid he uses 'girl' as an insult to imply a lack of strength..

As in 'you silly little thing, you really are some sort of girl aren’t you!”

Absolutely and totally depends on context...

I lived in Edinburgh for 10 years and heard people say "you're some girl" or "he's some boy" a lot, not in a negative way though.

HelpWasabi · 05/03/2018 23:13

We were talking abut how we’d spend a hangover day and that was what he said! Think was meant as a compliment. Do you honestly think it’s bad?

OP posts:
HelpWasabi · 05/03/2018 23:13

Basically I like all the same programmes as him/food etc

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 05/03/2018 23:13

I'm in Scotland and would take it as a compliment- kind of means you stand out.

Justmuddlingalong · 05/03/2018 23:15

It sounds like a belittling comment. Like he's impressed by you, but won't admit it.

Emma198 · 05/03/2018 23:16

Where's he from? I think it's a compliment

Lalliella · 05/03/2018 23:21

Why didn’t you ask him?

Shedmicehugh · 05/03/2018 23:21

Sounds like an old fashion saying, used to say that someone’s behaviour is amusing or surprising

NotUmbongoUnchained · 05/03/2018 23:23

It depends entirely on context.
It’s like when I say “you’re some boy” to my husband. Means he’s fucking awesome.

HelpWasabi · 05/03/2018 23:33

Ok :) We were saying how we liked the same stupid comedies and he said “well if we are ever hungover together, I know what’s on the cards!” I replied with “don’t forget the nachos” and that was the reply!

OP posts:
falsepriest · 05/03/2018 23:37

eye roll

PhelanThePain · 05/03/2018 23:38

Is it just me who cringes by when other people flirt with each other Grin I know it’s a process we have to go through if we’re ever to get into a relationship but it’s just so fucking cringey.

burdog · 05/03/2018 23:39

I think it's a compliment? In an old-fashioned Hollywood, "What a guy!" kind of a way.

Justmuddlingalong · 05/03/2018 23:39

Is this someone you've actually met or are you communicating online?
