AIBU to worry about soft toys in this cold?

I am struggling against my irrational self.
My daughter is 3 months old and in a pram. Across the pram hood is Mrs Cornflake - a sort of superheroine soft toy bunny carrying a thunder bolt and wearing a superhero mask. I know not who her marital partner is nor why she is called Cornflake - my son named her.
Anyway, every time we have left the house this week, I have looked at the snow and tucked her into the blankets with my daughter in case she gets cold in this snowy weather. I have also found myself tucking soft toys into the bed covers.
Anyone else worried their soft toys are feeling a little nippy in this cold spell??
No...?
Just me then?
think I’m losing my mind bloody sleep deprivation 😩

I was a bit this way with the first two Ds's, then did used to re dress the dollies when Dd went to bed as her choices of outfit were just all wrong.
I also feel very sorry for poor teddies tied to the front of lorries. Makes me sad for them.
After tidying teddies for the best part of 20 years (my own kids, then childminding, then foster care, then last Dd) I am now quite callous and just toss them all in a box and close the lid. I'm going to hell aren't I

Slightly different but does anyone else look into the eyes of a cuddly toy when they buy them to see which one most wants to come home with you?

Ski40 · 02/03/2018 22:28

Oh no... you just got me thinking about those poor teddies that some lorry drivers attach to the front grill of their trucks. And for some reason I started tearing up, no kidding...aaagh as if I wasn't sad enough today thinking of the dead homeless people and struggling birds. Thanks for that!! 😢😢 lol. Xx

Just read your post Troels. Soul sisters we are 😉

I usually find my child hood bear on my bed. My husband takes her out of the wardrobe because she “can’t breathe” 🙄

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/03/2018 22:30

I may have held my dds polar bear soft toy up to the window so he could see proper snow yesterday Blush Grin

I've spent this snowy spell knitting a zebra for DD3. She's named her Zoe. Zoe is now safely tucked in amongst the myriad other cuddlies in DD3's bed. It's a wonder there's any room for herself in there. Grin

Homemade sleeping bags - I need to up my game. And I never thought about the fact that Mrs Cornflake might be lonely - I need to find her marital partner pronto and tuck him/her in too - might need to get out of bed and do that now - can’t have her getting lonely in the night.

I still get really clucky about ds2's baby doll. He likes to wheel her around in the buggy outside with no socks on! In this weather! Stresses me out no end.

Also have just realised that I am going to be already one of those meddling old ladies forever insisting that strangers dress their perfectly comfortable babies in more layers. Shoot me now...

incywincybitofa · 02/03/2018 22:36

But Mr Cornflake might be off fighting a battle somewhere against good and evil, only to come home one day and discover Mrs Cornflake is now shacked up with another... Sad

Klarabing · 02/03/2018 22:36

Anyone wishing to put a teddy as a tribute on a grave... you can put the teddy inside a jar with the lid painted pretty to keep the rain and wind off.

liz70 · 02/03/2018 22:40

"struggling birds"

I nearly fell over in the snow yesterday morning when I went out to feed the birds. I was in my jimjams, fluffy dressing gown, socks and wellies. What a sight that would have made. Grin

Laiste · 02/03/2018 22:47

Last time i bought a teddy for DD4 the lady at the till was chatting away to me as she put teddy in the bag. I noted she put him in sitting the right way up. Good.

The she left the bag open a bit. She said ''i'll leave it open a bit ...'' and we both said at the same time, totally serious ''...so he can breathe'' Grin

Mrs Cornflake? Not ONE husband. A Cereal bigamist.

I used to explain to my toys why I was choosing monkey (once again) as my holiday toy of choice. I also worried that monkey would be bullied for being the obvious favourite. This was a few decades ago though.

I think it’s nice that you are considerate of Mrs C’s well-being.

Ralphstar · 02/03/2018 22:50

This is becoming a bit of an emotional tangle for everyone involved - not least Mr and Mrs Cornflake - I’d consider a charity shop donation of all soft toys but would then worry for the rest of my days that their new homes couldn’t offer the same level of care that I could - these softies have come to expect a certain standard of living.

Oh god Blush I still have my child hood doll. I can’t keep her in the cold cupboard! It would be cruel...

londonrach · 02/03/2018 22:57

Op. totally normal behaviour. They need care and is cold out there. I might be cuddled up to my childhood soft toy now as he is cold. Im still worried about dd soft toy stolen from her hand at xmas whilst in her pushchair. Please who ever took him look after him. I worry that he isnt being kept warm!

Beckyd1 · 02/03/2018 23:05

Not only do childrens toys get tucked in but i also have my own teddy bear i hug every night. DP often kicks him out of bed when im sleeping because he says pinky is mocking him... i cant imagine it though. Pinky is nothing but nice

Eastend2015 · 02/03/2018 23:12

DS’ beloved Nanny (bunny) is tucked in every night (after brushing her teeth and reading a story, and DS often shares his milk with her too) Grin

liz70 · 02/03/2018 23:21

I feel the need to knit or crochet a cuddly for myself now. I'll need to scout around for free patterns to find one that particularly appeals. DD3 would more than likely claim it, though.

CatLadyToddlerMother · 02/03/2018 23:24

The snows making everyone a bit crazy. My childless brother decided to go to Smyths Toys earlier today and bought my DD (2) a 5ft toy snake, he has no idea why he says he saw it and thought "Wow, Catgirl will love that", and oddly she does, she's tucked up in bed with it right now, using it as a pillow, her actual is being sat on by the cat on the floor Hmm

CocoLoco87 · 02/03/2018 23:33

Definitely need a photo of Mrs Cornflake. I just love the name!!

Oh yes. Soft toys need looking after too. I tuck DS's under the blanket in the pram too. DS1 has a bed full of toys that he sleeps with and DH has had to learn to share with my teddy too!

ReanimatedSGB · 02/03/2018 23:40

Don't let's get started on actual animals. I'm going out 3/4 times a day with a kettle to pour into the array of foil dishes and plastic tubs out the back so there is water for the birds to drink (and the bird feeder is topped up) and I am fretting about our own goldfish - who are in a tank in the sitting room and perfectly OK.
