Do any of you have a bag packed and ready to go if you have to get out in a hurry ? So far I've got underwhere, change of clothes and shoes. A few toiletries and an awful lot of paperwork. Oh and my bankcards

Banks statements- if you have them delivered and don't want him to find you, it will give clues as to where you are- hotel, meals, shops etc
Good luck OP xx

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way 6Tries but well done for taking action and getting prepared.

I would also buy a very cheap pay as you go mobile phone and have it charged up with close friends, family or women’s shelters numbers stored incase you are unable to find your phone in a hurry. Sending you lots of love and hugs.

Snowysky20009 · 28/02/2018 22:39

Write down a list of all your contacts, incase anything happens to your phone, you can still contact people. I know with the iPhone as everything is stored on the phone when mine went down I was stuck- I couldn't even contact my kids as I didn't know their mobile numbers of by heart

Passport. Just in case you need ID.

If you have any of his payslips, p60 forms, details of pensions, investments, savings - take originals if you can or pictures on your phone. Take photos of all important documents and email them to yourself. Delete any traces and make sure he does not have any passwords.

Pack anything that means something to you. Don't give yourself a reason to have to go back as in a moment of weakness you could use a sentimental item as an excuse to go back to the property.

Someone mentioned a pay as you go phone which is a great idea, if you don't have one already, once you have left you can get one easily from Tesco.

Good Luck OP Thanks

Screenshots or even better, originals of all banking account & credit card statements for at least 6 months - years if you have time.

MagicNumbers1234 · 01/03/2018 01:33

I'm sorry you're in this situation. Turn off location on your phone incase they use tracker app on your phone afteryou leave.
External drive with a scanned copy of all important and official documents and photos.
Written list of contacts/phone numbers. The usuals: Money/clothes /jewellery /wash bag/passport/anything of personal or sentimental value/insurance details /policy details

If you can stay put until the weather is calmer so you'll be able to travel easier and safer. Good luck. If you are in danger it may be worth speaking with the police or local shelter for support and advice.

We are in the process of doing a big out bag and are beginners at prepping. I don’t think we are far from needing it to be honest.

Leave the prick, you deserve better

Nothing too practical to add- I'm sorry you're in this position. I'd agree with adding anything sentimental/irreplacable that might tempt you to go back.

Also, if you're going to be holed up in a hotel for a few days it might be worth taking something to keep your mind occupied- couple of books, some knitting, colouring in? Not as imoortant as the other suggestions but any time I've thought about disappearing for a while, distractions are always on my list.

Good luck! Flowers

MrsCrabbyTree · 01/03/2018 02:53

The first thing I thought of after all the practical items was chocolate (or whatever treat you enjoy).

Nakedavenger74 · 01/03/2018 05:52

Another one thinking this was about crisps. OP, I have a holdall by the front door that is full of extra large bags of Beef Monster Munch in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

Hi there 6tries,
We've had a few people buzzing into us, concerned about your safety for obvious reasons. We very much hope that you are in a safe, warm place now, and people are caring for you as they should, and as you have seen already MNers are wonderfully supportive and ready to listen if you need them.
A while ago, MN made this list of useful links for women who are in your position; some of it might be useful, some might not, but here is the link in any case, just in case you wish to cast your eye over it. www.mumsnet.com/webguide/domestic-violence
Much love and kindness, and hope for the future. Flowers
