If you earn £20-£25K (Outside of London)

If you earn around that amount, for FT work, can I ask what you do? I currently earn £21k pro rata, as I'm part time. I have 'A' levels but no degree. Extensive admin experience, some management experience.

I'm thinking about a complete job change. I'm 49. I love helping people and would say I have a very caring, sympathetic nature, but don't want to do caring/nursing. For info, I'm a single parent with a disabled adult daughter.

Any ideas appreciated.

Some of the more senior admin/finance jobs in schools pay that for FT in term time

Athome77 · 28/02/2018 14:42

I work in adult care more admin side, mainly offic based or wfh (especially on days like today) but some visits to homes and services. I enjoy it. 23k pro rata

speakout · 28/02/2018 14:43

I earn a lot more than that.
I am self employed, working part time from home.

Thank you for the replies.

Athome77, that sounds interesting.

Speakout, what do you do from home? I'm betting you have skills/qualifications that I don't.

At the University I work for that would be a band 4 job - admin assistants/officers, College admin posts, finance assistants, library assistants, technicians.

For NHS non-clinical jobs again it's about a band 4 (and you can filter the NHS Jobs site by location and band) - medical secretary, team administrator, finance clerk, patient services coordinator.

What most of these have in common is that they require some work skills but these are mostly transferable like yours.

RaspberryCheese · 28/02/2018 20:05

40K plus, Manchester, no degree..

speakout · 28/02/2018 20:13

I earn just under £22k and am a complaints handler for a bank.

DuckAndPancakes · 28/02/2018 20:21

DP earns slap bang in the middle of that (plus overtime)

He kills stuff for a living. (Pest control) Qualifications and training were given in the job and his career for many years before that was totally different.

Student recruitment for a FE college.

WellWellWellifitisntyou · 28/02/2018 20:22

I'm in finance. There could be an in for you with the extensive admin experience that you have. Financial admin pays quite well, from there perhaps there could be options to study for paraplanner qualifications which would then further increase your salary.

CheekyRedhead · 28/02/2018 21:05
