??
You're probably all already eating /drinking this/these but I was shocked, appalled and horrified. I need to work on my sad face.

MarthaArthur yes, I'd say lemon drizzle cake tea would be suitably vomit inducing. This flavour-fusion business has gone fucking bonkers!

onalongsabbatical · 28/02/2018 14:13

I'm loving this thread. Rancid candle! New username, anyone? Grin

I believe the original salted caramel from Brittany was so-called just because it was made with salted butter (caramel au beurre salée) not because it had extra salt added. (Crawls back to Pedants' Corner)
but extra-salty caramel sauce is lovely on sticky toffee pudding; you can never have too much sauce

callmekitten · 28/02/2018 14:25

Salted caramel sushi. I love salted caramel but not in everything I put in my mouth.

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 28/02/2018 14:26

I had salted caramel truffles from Aldi and they were sublime. I went back and bought more and hid them then ate them alone cos I'm a right fat knacker

DeltaG · 28/02/2018 14:27

Lolz at this thread!!

I've got a Shay and Blue salt caramel perfume which is nice, but it also reminds me of the popcorn counter at cinema every time I wear it.

I think salt caramel originates from France. DH is French and we live just over the Franco-Swiss border. Here you can find it as a popular crêpe topping. It comes from the fact that the caramel is made using salted butter - resulting in 'caramel beurre salé'.
I personally love it, but not in crisp form!

There'll be salt caramel cat food soon enough, cos we all know how cats can barely live without it... mark my words

Loonoon · 28/02/2018 14:44

We bought the salted caramel -pretzels. They ended up in the food waste. yuck.

However my sticky toffee puddings with pink Himalayan Salt crystals are delicious. My DD was coming home later so I had made some as She loves them, but now her flight is cancelled. 😥

YearOfYouRemember · 28/02/2018 19:05

StealthPolarBear · 28/02/2018 19:25

Oh they do not sound nice.

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 28/02/2018 19:29

That is most peculiar and disturbing Stealth but I see your salted caramel crisps and raise you...mint choc chip Pringles! They were VILE. Much fun was had decanting them into a regular sour cream container and offering them around the office Grin

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 28/02/2018 19:31

I hate salted caramel and always believed it to be the work of the devil himself til a neighbour handed me a salted caramel martini over the fence last summer and now I make my own to keep in the fridge. But only ever used for martinis, so it's ok.

Salted caramel crisps are beyond ridiculous. Anyone buying them should be put into a special home for crisp ruiners.

RosaRosaRose · 28/02/2018 19:38

Last year I saw an idea, at Easter, for bacon in a hot cross bun. Thought, mmmmm, pancakes, maple syrup, bacon? Sounds a similar combination! Never tried that but it is highly spoken of. Hot cross bun, buttered. Good. Add bacon ? Filth! Rarely so disappointed. Don't go there. Confused

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/02/2018 19:40

They sound even worse than the utterly filthy tasting 'negroni' crisps my DF gave me last year. I love an ACTUAL negroni, but these were just nasty.

yawning801 · 28/02/2018 19:49

I've seen salted caramel Snack Jack things, but they were more salt, less caramel!

BabychamSocialist · 28/02/2018 19:53

I once bought Salted Caramel Vodka. Ruined my night.

StealthPolarBear · 28/02/2018 20:00

Mmmm that sounds OK. I love toffee vodka

sorry but trulybadlydeeply wins with the cocoa and rum crisps Envy

AlexaAmbidextra · 28/02/2018 21:41

I grabbed some hot cross buns in Tesco yesterday. Couldn't wait to eat one when I got home only to find they were salted caramel with choc chips. Just fuck off with the fucking salted caramel. It's fucking everywhere. Angry

Dragonfree · 28/02/2018 21:54

I must confess.... I was curious, so purchased some.

Yelch. Don't bother.

Bad and wrong and the taste lingers....

Hispterwannabe · 28/02/2018 21:56

I love salted caramel but crisps - no thank you.

StealthPolarBear · 28/02/2018 21:57

Urgh i hate it when they do that to crisps. At Christmas m&s we're doing prosecco crisps. They were grim

StealthPolarBear · 28/02/2018 22:22

It was actually prosecco and wild Berry. I know that because I still can't get rid of the wild Berry taste from my mouth. Bleurgh.
