I’m in NW, due to fly to Edinburgh tomorrow.Weather reports look horrendous but I feel bad! The same flight this morning was delayed 3 hours anyway!

Grr I went in for boring meeting only to have it cancelled and everyone sent home due to weather. Sad

Willow2017 · 28/02/2018 13:13

Red warning across lothians and into borders now so you were right not to go. Its blizzards, winds whipping up snow from the ground and was minus 2.5 earlier feels even colder now.

Tantpoke · 28/02/2018 13:16

Thank goodness you chose not to go as there is now a red warning.

liz70 · 28/02/2018 13:27

"Grr I went in for boring meeting only to have it cancelled and everyone sent home due to weather."

FFS surely they could have alerted you early in the morning?

All schools, unis/colleges, libraries, museums, sports and leisure centres, all closed. The world has ended. It was nice bitching with y'all. Smile

Namelesswonder · 28/02/2018 13:28

All flight out of Heathrow, City and Gatwick to Edinburgh cancelled - DH stuck in London Shock

DragonNoodleCake · 28/02/2018 14:17

Bet you glad you didn't go!!!

ratspeaker · 28/02/2018 14:22

Rail services getting cancelled in red zone area.

Glasgow Uni closed tomorrow too.

Means DD stuck here with us...where there's central heating, wifi, lentil soup, chickpea tangine...yeah real hardship.

CMOTDibbler · 28/02/2018 14:25

I'm supposed to be visiting customers in Glasgow and Edinburgh tomorrow, flying up from Birmingham. I'm not hopeful!

k2p2k2tog · 28/02/2018 15:19

Cancel your travel plans. Glasgow airport is shut for the rest of the day no Glasgow-Edinburgh trains.

it is very bad and the red warning is in place until 10am on Thursday.

CMOTDibbler · 28/02/2018 16:59

Flights are cancelled tomorrow morning now anyway. Relieved tbh

fuzzyduck1 · 28/02/2018 17:14

Weather warning is now red in Scotland so don’t do it

I've lived in Scotland 22 years; never seen snow like it.

FuckyNellYaBastad · 28/02/2018 17:32

Pics please Smile

YouCantBeSirius · 28/02/2018 17:46

My DD measured the snow in the garden Grin there's drifts outside over 1 ft deep.

Flights out ofEdinburgh cancelled.
Trains cancelled
Stagecoach cancelling
City bypass at standstill. Hearing reports of over 3 hour delays

Sirius my elder DD lives just outsideEdinburgh got about a foot of snow. She follows the Penicuik twitter for snow alerts. # penisnow

eurochick · 28/02/2018 18:14

Our Edinburgh and Glasgow offices closed at lunchtime today. One of my colleagues spent four hours at Edinburgh airport trying to get down to London. You made the right call OP!

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 28/02/2018 18:34

FFS surely they could have alerted you early in the morning?
You’d think wouldn’t you Confused but it’s about par for the course unfortunately.
The only good thing was my ace line manager was also there and was appreciative of the fact I had made extra effort to manage to get in, so I did at least get brownie points Smile

MoorMummy · 28/02/2018 18:45

Yep I’m glad I didn’t go. My colleague made it from the South West and is now stuck down there as the flights back were all cancelled.to be honest the roads aren’t great here ( outside MCr) the slush is frozen and it’s pretty treacherous!

Stay safe Scottish Mumsnetters ,don’t risk yourselves!

seizethecuttlefish · 28/02/2018 18:47

Good call. DH is stranded in London and can't get back to Glasgow. It's looking like he won't manage tomorrow either as all trains are cancelled here.

liz70 · 28/02/2018 19:14

"so I did at least get brownie points"

Well, that's something at least. Grin

MoorMummy · 28/02/2018 19:24

Sounds trite but being stuck somewhere with no clean undies, make up or toiletries , I’d have been most unhappy!

PaddyF0dder · 28/02/2018 19:32

Good call on not coming.

I’m just outside glasgow. Have about a foot and a half piled against my hall door, and it’s still bucketting down.

Piffpaffpoff · 28/02/2018 19:34

Excellent Penicuik hashtag there...😂

We’re in SW Fife, it got very bad about 1pm today, 4hr blizzard. We now have 20cm of lying snow but it’s so windy I reckon it’s been a lot more than that but lots has been blow away. So you made a good choice in not coming up.

amusedbush · 28/02/2018 19:34

I'm in Glasgow and I haven't see snow lying like this in years. I work at Strathclyde Uni and I was the only person in the department to make it in (after heavy delays), then campus was closed at 9am. I was so annoyed that we weren't notified before I fought my way in Hmm

We're closed tomorrow as well as the snow has been pretty bad most of the day.
