Oh they are so tired from their full night’s sleep, 10 hours sitting in a chair drinking hot coffee then bathing one child and reading one story. Gah.

OP posts:
JimLahey · 27/02/2018 03:57

I heard a nice one on Spotify where after the baby goes "wah wah wah" mummy says "I love you" and daddy says "I love you too"

StripySocksAndDocs · 27/02/2018 04:16

The solution is, quite obviously, 'parent'.

Not sure what thing they might be doing as a homogenous mass though. Yawn? Sleep? Zone out?

Also I admit it's slightly unusual for a child to actual call anyone parent. But what of manmys and mommys?

It's too much of a minefield. Think the song should be banned.

Shutupanddance1 · 27/02/2018 04:19

In ours Mammy says I love you and daddy says shh shhh shh in response to the crying baby..

SD1978 · 27/02/2018 04:21

I always thought the dads snorted as they were bored of the women talking shite.

SD1978 · 27/02/2018 04:21

Snored even

lljkk · 27/02/2018 04:28

I wish I could nod nod nod back to sleep now. Maybe I need to catch a bus...

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/02/2018 04:36

When we sang that, I thought the nodding was because they’re lazy bastards, who don’t do any of the wyfework.

lljkk · 27/02/2018 04:50

I think our babies often "fell fast asleep" too. Really it was only the driver & mums who didn't!

ChishandFips33 · 27/02/2018 04:56

All the buses round here have been cut, so nay fucker says owt

😂😂😂😂😂

elkiedee · 27/02/2018 05:07

I think this fits very well in AIBU. And the answer is no, you are being very reasonable!

DP chatters far more than I do, and I'm the grumpy one. He does like to play with his phone, but probably wouldn't get much chance these days when kids around as so does ds2. I used to add dinosaurs to everything, mostly when walking. The dinos on the bus go raaaaarrr, raarrrrr etc.

RadioGaGoo · 27/02/2018 05:11

Our version is that the Daddies on the bus give great big hugs, whilst the Mummies on the bus go Shhh Shhh Shhh Hmm

MsJuniper · 27/02/2018 05:23

I've always changed the words to songs. 5 little monkeys, miss polly, down at the station etc all require some gender role swapping and wheels on the bus needs some de-stereotyping (the "I love you/love you too" version for preference but if the mummies are chattering then I'll add "about important matters")

I'm sure it has no bearing on whether my child is feminist and most people think I'm crazy but it's the first thing our babies become familiar with and it's also quite fun thinking of alternatives that still scan/rhyme.

GiraffesCantDoMentalArithmetic · 27/02/2018 06:10

Daddys used to say "yes dear, no dear" well I was small Hmm

I change it every time now. I will definitely be introducing hipsters and squid to the bus.

beepthemeep · 27/02/2018 07:42

My daddy goes, "text text text" because it makes DD laugh.

Bit hypocritical given that I'm far worse than him and being glued to my phone, but meh!

Arealhumanbeing · 27/02/2018 08:47

Honestly, what's with the recent virulent, rabid, anti-anything-like-feminism posts all over mumsnet? (If this even qualifies as that even).

The lobotomised amongst us are feeling a little out of sorts/threatened now that ‘time’s up etc’.

So mummies chatter and daddies snore or sh?

What the fuck are people thinking? Don’t sing that utter shit to kids! Is this what parents are up against even at baby group?

ShatnersWig · 27/02/2018 08:49

I once walked into a parents group where I'd had to listen to that song every Friday morning for three years on the trot (they hired a room where I worked) and said "Bad news, the bus has crashed!"

Half the mums burst out laughing and the other half wanted to kill me.

They did, however, vary their repertoire a bit more often in future.

Namehunting001 · 27/02/2018 08:54

The version that is sang often to babygroups here are ‘babies go wah wah wah’, ‘mummies go shh shh shh’, daddies go ‘what’s that noise, what’s that noise, what’s that noise’!!!!!!!

GrannyGrissle · 27/02/2018 08:55

In our version the Daddies/Grandads on the bus go grump grump grump Grin

Olddear · 27/02/2018 08:59

So the mummies on the bus don't chatter??

Arealhumanbeing · 27/02/2018 09:19

@Olddear

I will not be spending any time spelling this out to you.

Others may be feeling kinder or more patient than me.

MadamMinacious · 27/02/2018 09:30

Posts like this do more damage to the feminism cause than anything else.

That is HILARIOUS Grin

Yes posts like this will bring down feminism.

Olddear · 27/02/2018 09:30

I travel on the bus....lots of chattering goes on. Some of them are even mummies.

FrannySalinger · 27/02/2018 09:37

Daddies on the bus read the newspaper in the version I know.

For 'newspaper' substitute 'sports pages'

For 'read' substitute 'stare at the same page mindlessly for an entire fucking afternoon'

Camomila · 27/02/2018 09:44

My daddies on the bus go 'chatter, chatter, chatter' and the mummies on the bus go 'shh, shh, shh' to the babies.
