To be wondering how much it must suck to give birth vaginally to twins?

iv had two children vaginally with just gas and air.

I am just watching Sundays call the midwife and this poor woman is having to dilate and crown twice (not from scratch i know but still)

Any mothers of twins able to confirm my thinking that this would be seriously sore? Obviously with two fab little bundles at the end of course that would make it all worth while!

Once you are dilated isn't that it?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 26/02/2018 21:09

Dilate once, crown twice, swear a few more times.

Forgottencoffee · 26/02/2018 21:11

I thought actually giving birth the easy bit, it was the contractions that I found most painful. I’d push a baby out of my vagina every day if it meant I never had to feel the pain of contractions again!

Bigzzzzzzz · 26/02/2018 21:11

According to my mum it was no different to single births. I’m sure she’s misremembering though..

amyisagonegirl · 26/02/2018 21:12

It's not a fun day. 38weeks. Induced. Baby 1 was 6'11 born with ventose, baby 2 was 7'10 ..... And breech forceps delivery.
Thank God for person who invented the epidural

SkaPunkPrincess · 26/02/2018 21:16

And actually, another thought. Is it baby, baby, placenta, placenta or baby, placenta, baby, placenta?

Maybe I need to hide this thread... 34 weeks with twins and twin 1 is head down so vaginal delivery is planned. I’m in denial about the whole thing. I’m gonna need all the drugs Grin

Calvinlookingforhobbs · 26/02/2018 21:18

I have a friend who had the first twin vaginally and then had an EMCS with the second one. Poor. Poor love.

biscuitmillionaire · 26/02/2018 21:18

I should think it stings a bit.

Grin

Lime123 sorry. I didn’t see your post there, wouldn’t want to scare you. Sorry.

My SIL had twins a year ago. We got into a nitty gritty chat about it for the first time recently and she said it was fine, just 'took a bit longer than last time and was tiring'. (she had a single DC 5 years ago) She said she virtually slept through the first one and woke up fully for the second birth 20 mins later, but it 'popped out' quite quickly.

She does tend to find life a breeze in general though. Never sure how much of it is show-boating Grin

Zanta · 26/02/2018 21:19

Its awful Especially with only two paracetomol and only couple puffs gas and air....get the first one out....the pain and discomfort instantly goes, you have a quick look at your baby then you think SHIT I still have to get another one out!!

namechangedtoday15 · 26/02/2018 21:19

Well I know someone who delivered Twin 1but had to have an episiotomy then ended up having a C section for Twin 2.

That would sting Shock

I've done twins vaginally and then a singleton vaginally. To anyone who says delivering 1 is no different to delivering 2 - ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

The80sweregreat · 26/02/2018 21:20

My niece had twins and she said it wasn’t that bad - she was amazing though.
They are 7 this year and lovely. I am in awe.

Zanta · 26/02/2018 21:21

Its baby baby placenta i think☺

SkaPunkPrincess · 26/02/2018 21:22

Zanta I just cannot imagine having to do it twice in a row! One at a time was plenty enough for me.

OlennasWimple · 26/02/2018 21:23

The person I know who had twins vaginally said it was extremely tiring having to push a second time having done it all once before and crowning hurts whether it's been two years or ten minutes since it last happened.

IDK about the placenta, though - good question!

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 26/02/2018 21:23

I did, 6 months ago.

It was fine!

No worse than my 1st, I labour quickly. Gas and air, no tears, no horror stories. Just one, then the other.

I'm mid 20s and good health though so that may have helped.

But honestly, it really was just like my single birth but...twice Grin

BestZebbie · 26/02/2018 21:28

.....oh my god. Is it not easier because twins are on average each fractionally smaller?? I have been misled all my life. I also suddenly feel a lot of renewed admiration for all the mammals with litters, rather than feeling hard done by that humans have giant skulls!

Lime123 · 26/02/2018 21:30

The drs are telling me it’s easier because they are smaller... I’m clinging on to that. And the thought of drugs. Lots of drugs.

Lime123 · 26/02/2018 21:31

That and my body has done it before with a singleton and “a womb never forgets, a bit like riding a bike”.... hmmm we shall see

ellesbellesxxx · 26/02/2018 21:32

thank goodness for the epidural is all I can say😂
I had twin one by forceps delivery, twin two fifteen mins later by ventouse then obv you have to deliver both placentas... plus I had episiotomy and third degree tear so needed stitching.
Honestly though I was just in awe of these two incredible humans that had finally arrived.. I would even actually have more twins if my husband would let me!

KindergartenKop · 26/02/2018 21:33

I thought this when I watched it! My bits were so sore after, how do they manage to push another one out?

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 26/02/2018 21:33

Yes that's a point, I was relieved to be pushing out smaller babies.
A little miffed with Mother Nature that my bigger baby was on top and therefore coming out second Sad
And to be fair it was tiring getting her out, and she had a little bruised face from it, poor girl.

Olga81 · 26/02/2018 21:34

I knew twins that were both 9lb plus!
