I got a letter today telling me that they have over paid me by £70 which means that I have to pay it back which means even less money for me to live off every month because they keep finding ways to screw me over. I can't afford to feed myself so I am now having to go to the food bank and I'm having to sell stuff to get money together to try and pay bills and get some food in for the freezer. I feel so pissed off and annoyed with the whole thing I'm too ill to work and now they keep finding ways to kick me in the teeth and remind me how low I've sunk. I hate living like this.

Ah in that case then what they given you is correct. They've taken off £455 because of other benefits/employment

HelenaDove · 10/03/2018 18:28

Ah i see. We are only one bedroom and over pension age so doesnt apply but i remember the threads on here a few years ago.

MyDcAreMarvel · 10/03/2018 18:56

I don't understand they expect you to pay gas, electric, water, council tax, phone, broadband, travel and food on £243 a month. How could that be possible!

MotherofaSurvivor · 10/03/2018 22:29

@MyDcAreMarvel Welcome to Universal Credit... Confused

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 11/03/2018 17:02

motherofasurvivor yeah and they've left me with nothing to pay my rent with.

MyDcAreMarvel actually they expect me to pay everything out of £111.67 and that doesn't even cover my bills never mind my rent. Welcome to the wonderful world of universal credit. And I can't take a lodger in I only have a 1 bedroom flat.

Shootfirstaskquestionslater- to me it looks like they have taken off money because you have an other income and you have had an advance....
They are not expecting you to live on what they give you, they think you have more money coming in.
It sounds harsh but some of this is your own doing. Go and get some proper budgeting advice.

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 11/03/2018 17:23

Ylvamoon I have no money coming in at all though and I have told them this none of it is my own doing they took in to account the advance which I pay back every month they took in to account the housing benefit that I was entitled to that I now have to pay back they took in to account the SSP that I was entitled to and now no longer get because I was sacked from my job so please explain to me how it's my own doing when all I got was what I was entitled to or should I just get no money at all.

Is the £117.67 just this month? Still horrendous though. Do you have food for the rest of the month?

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 11/03/2018 17:32

MyDcAreMarvel £111.67 that I got was for last month but my rent is due on Wednesday and I have £40 in the bank and I never received the rent money that I was suppose to get. I have food because I have to go to the food bank because they have left me unable to afford to feed myself.

So, the calculation IS based on other income.
I think a lot depends on why you lost your job and when you notified them about your change. Make sure everything is logged correctly on the system. I'd go and see them to make sure everything is correct and above board.

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 11/03/2018 18:40

If your too ill to work you will be able to claim ESA, I work in this area your calculations don’t add up, so I suggest you need to speak to UC!

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 11/03/2018 19:16

Ylvamoon other income that I no longer get and I told them all this everything has been stopped now because of the universal credit. I have an appoiment with them on Tuesday so I will be making sure that everything is right.

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag I'm not allowed ESA I was put on universal credit because am in a universal credit area so that was what I got put and I wish they hadn't.

Best thing you can do is call them tomorrow morning and go through it all with them?

At the top of the page where your payment breakdowns are that you shared screenshots of, there should be a big green box that states what the total payment should be that you received?
