No, the cattle dog is a herding breed whilst the Kellie is a working breed. Both are very clever though

YANBU. I have a husky and look after my friends border collie, border collie is beautiful and I love her but she even wears my husky out. My boy loves a long walk and will get destructive if hes not had enough exercise but once hes been out hes quite content to curl up in the middle of the floor/the most inconvenient place he can find and sleep for a few hours, border collie however goes for the long walk with him, gets back and bounces round the house pestering people to entertain her and sticking her nose in everything.

I have to disagree with the "not a step down" comment.

Having owned multiples of both, Collies are really massively easier than Huskies and more again than Malamutes.

That's not to say they're easy dogs, because they're anything but.

The breeder that sold it to her ought to be reprimanded and penalized. They are supposed to make sure their puppies are going to suitable homes. They are also supposed to rehome puppies that are returned to them due to unsuitability. OP—Can you discreetly enquire as to where she got the puppy and then report to the relevant breeders' society?
