To ask for your help to find a bra

It's impossible. I'm currently needing a 44G bra. I used to be 36G but post children I find bras so uncomfortable that even a 42 back seems tight (I'm also a bit of a fatty at the moment but working on that) I cannot find a 44G underwired bra anywhere. Bravissimo only go up to a 40 back, m&s do 44 backs but only non wired. I've tried to wear a 42G but the 1 bra I found only went up to an F cup in 42 back! Help me please my 1 remaining bra that does fit is ready for the bin.

You might be finding it so tight because you need a much bigger cup.

Try measuring yourself.

Have you used the boob or bust method to get your bra size? Are you definitely a 44G?

Have you popped into your nearest Debenhams lingerie section, if there is one? Mine had a range of Triumph bras in larger sizes (which I need, 42G here). Best fitting (albeit expensive at £30) bra I have.

Also, the one I tried was a tan colour (I only wear black or white) and they ordered it for me to collect.

If you don't mind me asking, what clothing size are you? I bet you're in the wrong bra size.

I've a size 18 at the moment usually a 14 but I won't be back to that for some time so I need bras for now without spending a fortune. I've been measured so I know 44G is right but can't find any!

You can buy bra extenders which will take the 42 to a 44 band... Unless you are a size 24 plus though, you probably aren't a 44 band. Have a look on the bravissimo website.

Just thinking that I was measured last when I was pregnant so maybe that's why the size could be off. But I bought 42F yesterday (they didn't have G) and it was so tight on my shoulders but the cup size seemed ok. Bravissimo only go up to a 40 back I've been told?

There is also no bravissimo or anywhere decent near me. There is an m&s and a Debenhams that I could try though?

My bras used to be tight on my shoulders when I had a too big band size. It's because the band isn't supporting any of the weight and so it is all pulling down on your shoulders

If you were measured at M&S it will almost certainly be wrong. Google boob or bust and measure yourself according to their guidelines. You'll most likely go down 2 or 3 back sizes and up a couple of cup sizes. At a size 18 I can't believe you are a 44 back, seems far too big.

I don't think you will be a 44 back at size 18. I am a 20/22 and wear a 36 GG. You probably need a smaller back and bigger cup

Do you have a measuring tape brad ? A good starting point is just to measure where your bra band goes. And don't add any inches to that

No, don't go to M&S! Where were you measured? Do you have a disproportionately wide back?

I'd guess you're more likely a 36J

Go back to bravissimo and ask them to fit you for a bra. Chances are you're a 36 or 38 back but a J or similar cup

Fwiw I was measured in Debenhams as a 32GG but found I was getting painful markings from them. Went into bravissimo and came out a 36GG. Getting the right back and cup size makes all the difference my boobs and back feel so much better now.

I’m guessing a 36J or thereabouts too.

Measure using the guides above. I would be VERY surprised if you took a tape measure and measured round your rib cage (without adding or subtracting anything) and it was more than a 40. With your clothes size I’d guess a 36/38 and a much larger cup size.

The trouble is that the old m&s way is so ingrained in people. So a DD sounds big but a 28DD is fairly small. So if someone is measured say a 34 and try it on and it feels tightthen they think the BOB method is wrong. When really they need to keep moving up a cup size until it is no longer tight.
