To ask if this is a normal house spider?

Changed name in case DH comes I here. DH has put a huge ducking spider in DSs spider farm. He found it in the bath. I think it's markings look unusual (not that I've ever examined a spider the size of a plate before!).

Is it a normal spider? I don't usually freak out about spiders (mice are another thing) but I just can't shake the feeling that a spider that big has a whole lot of wrong going on.

The body is about 2 cm long and legs about 4.

DuckAndPancakes' dp is a spider expert, do not let her leave Mumsnet.

The spider in the picture is a typical Tegenaria, harmless to humans and very beneficial to get rid of insect pests in the house.
Judging from its palps it's either a female or an immature male.

We used to get loads of these at work. I used to grab them and throw them out to save them from my colleague who tried to suck them up the hoover. Wish I had something for scale but easily the biggest spiders I have ever seen in the UK.
