To think she should have served me?

MermaidTailUnicornHorn · 19/02/2018 19:18

Walked up to the counter and the women smiles at me and beckons me over and asks how I am.

Woman looking at something on the shelf next to the till turns around and dumps an item ready to pay, I was literally about to place my basket on the till.

Woman serving then turns to me and asks me to wait. Aibu to think she should have served me first?

Jesus you must lead a very sheltered life if you have gone to the trouble to write a post over that.

MermaidTailUnicornHorn · 19/02/2018 22:08

And you must be very unhappy to feel the need to write comments like that to make you feel better about your life.

Carrot lady! Was it you? Was it???

Rosielily · 19/02/2018 22:39

I want to know what shop it was in so can avoid in future.......Confused

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 19/02/2018 22:47

Was it one of those shops where everyone has to form one queue and then you walk over to a free cashier?

I once made the mistake of moving towards a free till only to realise the woman was actually shutting her till.
I was then awkwardly trapped in the limbo area between queue and tills, thinking should I re join the back of the queue or just pretend to look at these little packets of crap tied up with ribbon next to the till until my turn?

Maybe the whole queue wanted to kick me in the cunt. Grin

I'm looking forward to the cinema dramatisation of this tragic, tragic event. Hope they find someone good to play you, OP.

PurpleRobe · 19/02/2018 23:13

This needs a diagram

MichaelBendfaster · 20/02/2018 17:22

Cashier should have served you and said 'Just a minute please' to the other woman.

Oscarsdaddy · 20/02/2018 17:33

Things like this piss me off. I was in local chemist last year, not a regular customer but go in there sometimes. I stiff at the counter whilst person in front of me was being served, a regular came in and someone darted out from the back and Sao to them ‘can I help you?’ I just couldn’t stand there and say nothing, I wasn’t feeling the best hence a trip to the chemist so I just looked at the staff and asked if I was invisible. They soon served me

SaskaTchewan · 20/02/2018 17:52

I like the idea of burning the village, but in RL I would have just told the basket woman that she was really rude. It annoys people so much when you say it with a big smile.

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 20/02/2018 17:53

Wish I had time to worry about pettiness like this.
Grow up ...say something at the time or dont moan!

SaskaTchewan · 20/02/2018 18:02

Posters might pretend to be above such petty events, but in RL most of them would be fuming. You just need to see the stressed and pissed off faces of people in any queue, and the rage when theirs suddenly gets slower than the one they didn't chose.
Airport queues are very amusing for this, but any supermarket queue is pretty bad too.

Zaphodsotherhead · 20/02/2018 18:14

As someone who works in a shop I have to say the type of person who pushes in front of others in a queue is usually the sort to start a screaming argument if asked to wait, so I will often give the person who actually 'was' queueing an apologetic smile and serve the person who jumps. Unless the jumper has a huge basket full of stuff, in which case I will say 'I think this lady was first' and then duck.

All those who are berating the OP for posting about such a trivial, in their opinions, issue, why don't you just fuck off to the climate change or human rights boards and have deeply meaningful and important convos there if this is all beneath you? Angry

Letmeoff · 20/02/2018 20:24

@XmasInTintagel
I thought id got over the carrot thread but your first comment had me crying again :))Smile

I once saw comedian Mark Watson live. He's a strong advocate of booing. I have to agree in certain circumstances booing works 😁 maybe try that & if that doesn't work resort to violence as that definitely (Maybe) does 😉

Couldn’t have put it more eloquently myself, Alexa. 😆

I am disturbed by the quality of training on these new fangled AIBU training courses!
Just to say, if it is advertised at 85% discount, and is a short term, online course - frankly, you get what you pay for!
A legit AIBU training course (requiring residential weekends at the hotel where the friend stole the wedding) would clearly advise a strong eye roll, a "tut - sigh" combination, and the optional addition of a short passive aggressive phrase muttered to be barely audible.
You get what you pay for, ladies and gents!

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 20/02/2018 21:46

@Alexa mumsnet isn’t an echo chamber. If you want to be told what you think then go and stand in front of a mirror and tell yourself what you want to hear.
People can have opinions that differ...it’s ok! Your comment is also incredibly ironic! 😂

AlexaAmbidextra · 20/02/2018 22:23

Sarah Ironic? I just don't understand why posters click on threads, find the subject matter not worth bothering about but then take the time to tell the OP just that, usually in a fairly supercilious manner. Just close the thread and move on. Don't waste any more of your time and energy. Hmm

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 20/02/2018 22:35

@Alexa and yet you disagree with someone’s opinion and instead of just moving on you choose to comment on the thread telling everyone else they should move on 😂
Personally I find these posts hilarious! So glad I’m not petty

AlexaAmbidextra · 20/02/2018 22:42

Sarah Well yes, of course people have differing opinions. In my opinion it's extremely petty to take the time to insult posters as their subject matter is not, in your opinion, important enough to bother with. As if you are far superior and above such trivia. Still, whatever makes you feel good about yourself I suppose. 😂😤
