Hope the link works. I'm glad she got arrested.

If she was taken ill, and her car was parked in "her" space at the time, I wonder where she would expect the ambulance to park? Hmm

TheSecondMrsAshwell · 19/02/2018 12:55

*Uganda

weapons grade arsehole*

WGA will now pass into my vocabulary. That is genius.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 19/02/2018 12:55

She did an awful thing, has been arrested and charged. She'll have to live with that incident being public knowledge and she's been widely pilloried for it across the press.

Some of the names being used against her on here are unnecessary, I think, and it's beginning to sound a bit like a pitchfork parade.

She did an awful thing. Most would never behave that way.

MissDollyMix · 19/02/2018 12:57

This makes me so sad, that people can behave like this. Our neighbour once needed an emergency ambulance and it was parked so that it completely blocked our whole street and I couldn't get my car out. I was just leaving for DD's swimming lesson at the time and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a smidge frustrated (imagine toddler, all dressed and ready to go, swimming bags all packed up etc) but I would never have dreamed of saying anything to the ambulance crew. I assumed they were there because they needed to be and their need took priority over mine. I was more concerned about the welfare of my neighbour than I was about the missed swimming lesson. I hope, going on the national response this case has had that most people are horrified by this story and would react in a normal reasonable manner if faced with this situation and not treat our emergency services with such contempt. I certainly think making an example of this woman like this, serves to underline that people must treat emergency workers with the respect they deserve and to stop being so darn selfish.

plominoagain · 19/02/2018 12:59

My husband who was a serving police officer , once stopped to remonstrate with a male driver who was being abusive to a fire crew because they had blocked the road whilst dealing with an actual house fire . The driver not only totally failed to take any notice , he then attacked my husband and strangled him until he was unconscious . He ended up restrained by the fire crew until other officers arrived to take over . He got charged , went to court , got community service . Which just goes to show just how valued emergency services are.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 19/02/2018 13:00

That's disgraceful, plominoagain. It should have been prison.

BitOutOfPractice · 19/02/2018 13:04

Bloody hell Plominoagain what do people have to do nowadays to get sent to prison?

Sparklesocks · 19/02/2018 13:14

Horrible isn't it? When I see an ambulance I can't help but think about the poor person in the back, or the person who will be in there shortly. I always silently send them luck
Beggars belief that people can be so selfish and only think about themselves in these situations when someone else is having such a horrific time.

Morphene · 19/02/2018 13:49

The whole not being able to spell ambulance concept is a red herring. The things have 'AMBULANCE' written on them...so she could have just copied it out, no?

I just can't comprehend the thinking of some people. An ambulance, for crying out loud. Just let them get on with their job for goodness sake,it could be you needing one one day!

goldface · 19/02/2018 14:36

Oh plominograin that is appalling.

niccyb · 19/02/2018 18:20

I work in the NHS. I’m not surprised. Sadly I’ve come across much worse

ForalltheSaints · 19/02/2018 18:30

Withdrawal of all but any treatment to save her life for a period of time would be justice, were it an option for the courts.

sexyegg · 19/02/2018 18:35

Only on mumsnet would you see such contrary folk that they'd disagree with someone being apprehended for verbally abusing emergency services staff and leaving a vile note on an ambulance. @MuseumOfCurry I mean you, just in case you weren't sure.

MasterWu · 19/02/2018 18:37

I'd go further than that to be honest. I genuinely think those who abuse emergency services should be fully black balled from using them ever again in the future (proved at court of course)

zeeboo · 19/02/2018 18:44

@MasterWu did your Mum never tell you that two wrongs don't make a right?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 19/02/2018 18:56

That's not justice,MasterWu, it sounds like an administrative nightmare. You'd have to have grades (ambulances obstruction -v- shouting at medical staff -v- actual physical abuse)... I don't think our NHS could manage all that and nor should they have to.

She's been charged, I hope the sentence was appropriate, with a financial penalty perhaps and I would have added on some meaningful community service. I have no problem with people like this being made an example of as it will make everybody stop and think.

I think it's one of those things that highlights that these people are very much in the tiny minority and thank goodness for that. Most people would never do this and if the law is going to start coming down hard on transgressors, then that's a good thing.

RaspberryRipple63 · 19/02/2018 18:57

Oh wow. Yet another over-entitled madam spouting about 'her rights'. Glad she got arrested and I hope she gets dealt with severely. Stupid cow.

MasterWu · 19/02/2018 19:01

I see what you're saying Lying but I'd have it tagged on to the end of any court sanctions i.e. charge for public order/assault/obstruction then tag removed from service to their NHS notes if
found guilty.

Zeebo she was more of the hang 'em and flog 'em brigade Grin

LifeBeginsAtGin · 19/02/2018 19:12

@Museumcurry Causing stress and upset to someone is not a reasonable threshold for arrest. I hope that's obvious.

Probably charged with Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986

A section 5 offence comprises two elements:

A person must (a) use threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, or (b) display any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting; and

The words or behaviour, or writing, sign of other visible representation must be within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby.

Hope it is obvious now.

MuseumOfCurry · 19/02/2018 19:12

@MuseumOfCurry I mean you, just in case you weren't sure.

You have poor reading comprehension skills.

Polarbearflavour · 19/02/2018 19:20

I used to be an NHS nurse and it really put me off people. I’ve had chairs thrown at me and been sworn at and threatened numerous times. The way some people treat public services staff is disgusting. But nothing ever happens to punish them.

HelenaDove · 19/02/2018 19:53

Someone who used to live near us refused to move for the ambulance that was taking my DH to hospital DH was unconcious after a heart attack. A neighbour told him in no uncertain terms to SHIFT IT.

So this doesnt surprise me at all.

yerbutnobut · 19/02/2018 21:04

Think she needs making an example of, her behaviour is hard to comprehend. I don't think she wrote 'van' instead of ambulance due to being thick, I think that she has done that to minimise the 'symbolism' of the vehicle, had she written ambulance on the note she is acknowledging its purpose, viewing/describing it as a 'van' will have possibly made her feel more justified in her actions.
