To ask for repayment

Long story short I agreed to loan a close family member the cash to allow them and partner to join a big family trip. Was happy to do so to have them there. Agreed repayment was the month following the trip. At the end of the month following the trip I enquired and mentioned I now had to pay the trip costs on my credit card - I was told original promised repayment month wasn't possible and would following month be ok? I agreed but it hasn't been mentioned since
Do I leave it and wait and see or do I have to chase this ?

@InfiniteSheldon nice idea however every other person (14 of us) that came on the trip and who whom deposits were paid in advance either paid me before or during the trip !

@ShatnersWig you're totally right I know. I suppose in my ignorance I felt family was a different thing - also when their employment situation came up I don't think the trip was a deciding factor in that decision tbh.

It sounds like you were the “banker” for the holiday collecting up deposits and payments.

Why not tell them that everyone else has paid you back and now they need to pay you as it was a loan not a gift and you are paying incurring credit card charges.

It seems that you are afraid of their reaction if you ask for the money back again, but they are not afraid of upsetting you by not paying it back and don’t care if you are out of pocket.

You really need to be persistent - over email, by text, on the phone, in person
