So given up crisps for lent, not a religious person, more a weight loss thing.

Any way, I bought salt n vinegar snak-a-jaks, I never thought they were crisps just flavoured cardboard, but OH, has said they're crisps WTF!!

So yes or no, are they crisps??

Arent they rice cakes?

PrinceofWales · 17/02/2018 18:32

Rice cakes!!!

lightoflaluna · 17/02/2018 18:32

They are certainly a branch of the crisp family imo

PistFump · 17/02/2018 18:32

They're horrid is what they are!

drivingmisspotty · 17/02/2018 18:32

No definitely not crisps! They're made out of corn, right? I think a crisp made out of corn is called a tortilla chip.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 17/02/2018 18:33

They're rice cakes aren't they? Not crisps! Enjoy

falsepriest · 17/02/2018 18:33

Whatever they are, they absolutely STINK SHEILA CAN YOU STOP BRINGING THEM TO WORK

Fekko · 17/02/2018 18:34

I like them. I like pop chips too.

Remote1candles · 17/02/2018 18:34

Definitely in the crisps category IMHO, it includes corn and rice products when they appear in flavoured multi packs, e.g. Monster Munch, Skips, Wotsits, Snackajacks, etc.

lightoflaluna · 17/02/2018 18:35

They come in a foil packet

They are eaten as a snack

Often accompanied by a sandwich or similar

Come in a variety of flavours such salt and vinegar.

Crisps. Guilty as charged

Idbemonica1 · 17/02/2018 18:35

No they are not crisps they are rice cakes. Perhaps for him "crisps" are all savoury snacks in packets? Have you given up Quavers , Wotsits etc?

DumbledoresArmy · 17/02/2018 18:35

Not crisps, they're rice cakes!

Fekko · 17/02/2018 18:36

But light - nuts could fall into that category then.

Pollypudding · 17/02/2018 18:36

YANBU as they are not crisps as they aren’t made of potatoes. Eating snack a jacks is enough of a penance for Lent though- they are indeed flavoured cardboard and for this YABU!

PositivelyPERF · 17/02/2018 18:37

Rice cakes and the big caramel ones are lovely and good if you’re on a diet. unless like me you eat four in a row

Awrite · 17/02/2018 18:37

They are rice cakes but you are definitely cheating if you eat them. Definitely.

iklboo · 17/02/2018 18:37

They come in a foil packet

So do condoms Grin

lightoflaluna · 17/02/2018 18:38

@Fekko if i were buying nuts in a supermarket i'd probably buy them in a tub. The little packets go nicely in a pub.

Good point though. Quavers and wotsits are also crisps Smile

MsHomeSlice · 17/02/2018 18:38

you are in a good deal of trouble though if condoms are crisp.

lightoflaluna · 17/02/2018 18:39

@iklboo maybe condoms also come in salt and vinegar? Not sure i'd like one with my sarnie though! Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/02/2018 18:40

They are not crisps

They are in the same snack league as prawn crackers, mini popadoms, pork scratchings, scampi fries (ie, crispy, but not crisps). If it concerns you, buy the giant ones. They are definitely not crisps.

Doritos are crisps in our house. (Other delicious brands of nachos are available)

8misskitty8 · 17/02/2018 18:43

They are not crisps, they are flavoured rice cakes.
They are in the cracker aisle in our Tesco which is about 6 rows away from the crisp aisle.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/02/2018 18:43

Should add- not all crispy and corn based snacks are crisps- popcorn for example, even salted, are not crisps, but other corn/maize snacks are (monster munch, wotsits).

This is an absolute minefield. Go easy, OP.

laura6032 · 17/02/2018 18:43

I thought that were rice cakes too, that's why I bought them, they weren't even in great crisp aisle 😢

Just wanted something salty and vinegarary, I'd even eat the condom

OP posts:
ChocFudgeLover · 17/02/2018 18:49

I would class them as crisps

Is this going to be the new jaffa cake debate?
