To think that Susie Dent is an underrated national treasure

26 years she's been on our TVs

I'm 26 this year and spent my childhood coming home from primary school, having a doughnut or icedbun or yumyum and watching Countdown with my brother and mum.

And I think she's amazing on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown- she shouldn't work on that show but she does so perfectly.

Yum-yums originated in Holland at the turn of the last century, and came over to the UK about 50 years later (according to Wikipedia). I'm pretty sure Susie Dent doesn't eat them, though!

I love Susie Dent (and her tweets). I’m currently reading her book about tribes in language - the part I’m reading at the moment is about the language used in the police force and it’s fascinating.
I like Grace Dent too, though. Not sure why she’s getting so much flak here.

Oh my goodness I adore Susie dent !! And even more so since I started watching 8 out of 10 Cats Countdown. She's so modest and sweet but with a fab sense of humour. The way jimmy rips into her and gives it right back to him. I'm also very jealous of her figure.

I like Grace Dent as well but if it came to it Susie would win.
