To think that Susie Dent is an underrated national treasure

26 years she's been on our TVs

I'm 26 this year and spent my childhood coming home from primary school, having a doughnut or icedbun or yumyum and watching Countdown with my brother and mum.

And I think she's amazing on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown- she shouldn't work on that show but she does so perfectly.

53?! I want some of whatever she eats for breakfast.

Jengnr · 17/02/2018 08:04

I love her too. I love her on 8 out of ten cats, especially. I like her having a naughty side :)

Marmite27 · 17/02/2018 08:05

She’s 53? Shock

Much love for Suzie in our house.

And here's also one of the best programs on Radio - by Grace Dent - are they related?

Yes to following her on Twitter, she puts out some really interesting stuff about words

StripySocksAndDocs · 17/02/2018 08:10

Didnt think i knew her. Seems I do.

I think I'll start following her on Twitter!!

ShowOfHands · 17/02/2018 08:14

She's wonderfully witty, bright, astute and likeable. Ì think she's a bit brilliant too.

pipandco · 17/02/2018 08:35

Jesuis I can assure you yumyums have been around longer than 5 years. My older siblings (one is 11 years older) were eating them before I was born in 1992. What would I get from fibbing about eating yumyums as a child..Grin

I at yumyums when I was at school 30 years ago. They’re not a new thing!

iwouldgoouttonight · 17/02/2018 08:50

Shut the front door. Susie Dent is 53??

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 17/02/2018 09:42

I really admire her. She’s so obviously brilliantly intelligent, passionate about what she does and why it matters, and and has a great sense of humour. I love that she doesn’t dumb herself down for the cats version of countdown. Basically I’m a huge fan and def want to be her best friend.

HannaPintura · 17/02/2018 09:55

Absolutely agree OP. She always makes me laugh on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown. She's so beautiful and clever, she's someone I would love to have round for tea!

Munrow · 17/02/2018 09:58

I have a crush on her.

user1495884620 · 17/02/2018 10:01

I worked in a yumyum (and other baked products) factory as a summer job as a student. It was totally only 5 years ago more like 25 .

MrsJayy · 17/02/2018 10:01

I was thinking Grace Dent and my face screwed up but yes Susie is lovely

frankie001 · 17/02/2018 10:02

Thanks to this thread I dreamt I walked past Susie Dent. I’m not disappointed except that it hasn’t happened in real life!

swanmills · 17/02/2018 13:11

Basically I'm a huge fan and def want to be her best friend Haha love this! Couldn't agree more.

ScrambledSmegs · 17/02/2018 13:31

She is definitely national treasure material.

Yum Yums have been around for decades. Maybe over a century although I think they didn't arrive in the UK till after WW2.

AmysTiara · 17/02/2018 13:33

She's fab and I like the way she still looks embarrassed every time she gets introduced.

ColinsVeryJolly · 17/02/2018 13:36

I adore her too, in fact I want to be her.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 17/02/2018 13:38

I love Susie Dent, big fan. She is definitely a national treasure. Can't believe she's been on TV for 26 years!

SharkSave · 17/02/2018 13:39

Oh yes, clever, attractive, funny And definitely puts Jimmy Carr in his place. What's not to love?!

SharkSave · 17/02/2018 13:39

Oh and if she can share her skin care tips I'd love her even more!
