To think Mary Berry needs to get with the times?

Ok maybe I am being a bit unreasonable, I know she's 82. But I couldn't help but find myself a little irked yesterday on the one show when asked what a good Valentine's Day meal would be and she said "well all men love a bit of steak don't they." So Valentine's Day is a day for women to cook for the man??

My 89 year old grandmother was watching as well and actually commented before I did saying "well that doesn't mean I would like steak!!" Which made me feel a little better about perhaps being overly judgemental of a much older generation. But really Mary, not sure why the focus is on what darling husband/boyfriend would want Hmm

Can see nothing wrong with her comment at all.

My hubby loves steak, so I did him a big fat juicy steak for dinner, with all the trimmings that he loves.

He has that every Wednesday of every week..

I wouldn't dream of asking him to cook for me - my kitchen is MINE.

Most men love steak 😛

Who cares really?

Sorry pressed send too soon

She is an 82 yr old lady who was brought up to look after her man. If you don't like her don't watch her.

DH cooked me a gorgeous rib eye steak tonight - I have no idea what he ate because he cooked his own and he's vegetarian

A margarine sponge may be a tad lighter than one made with butter but its pointless since the margarine one tastes horrible and is therefore inedible IMO.

For anyone not convinced that you can discern a difference, please send me one of each for testing purposes - will return the marge one to you Grin

Mary Berry is interesting in that she is (and probably always was) the main breadwinner in her family but she is always at pains to point out that she sees it as her responsibility to 'look after' her husband.

She seems to live a feminist life (running many businesses) whilst adopting a traditional wife persona and I suppose that is a reflection of her age

I've grown to like her after hearing her life story. I don't mind the fact that she has different opinions to mine. It would be odd if she didn't.
