.....to style curly hair??

I was fairly dubious but for less than £3 I thought I would give it a go. Still refining the amount to put on and adding a bit of conditioner to it too so it's not so crispy but I've got some great curls that I haven't seen for ages.

So thank you whoever you were!

Watching with interest for more info. And yes, another one picturing lube being applied to hair with a fish slice!

WifeofDarth · 12/02/2018 21:40

Ollivander Which Cantu products do you recommend? I got the conditioner and one of the gels the other day and have used once. OK but still a bit frizzy.

Ollivander84 · 12/02/2018 21:43

I use
Co wash - as I am or a normal conditioner
Condition - shea low porosity
Products - cantu activator and curl custard plus lube
Mizani supreme hair oil to scrunch out the crunch

Please don’t use Vaseline as a lube if you use a condom

Lovetunnocks · 12/02/2018 21:55

Ollivander - we have v similar hair. I used Aussie shampoo, then deva curl conditioner and gel - which isn't crunchy. But it's all v expensive. Haven't had much success with co-washing, I go a bit lank. Must try again though. Do you use regular KY?

Ollivander84 · 12/02/2018 21:58

No, I use lubidoo water based but at the moment am trying intimate earth as it's glycerine free and seems to be better for my hair Smile

Trills · 12/02/2018 21:59

Is that four products on your hair then Ollivander?
activator
custard
lube
oil

HoneyDragon · 12/02/2018 22:04

Oh yay, I’m glad it worked. I use it after refreshing my hair in the morning to make it bloody behave.

I really like the cheap Tesco blue gel too.

I don’t get on brilliantly with Cantu custard, it’s good but the scent really irritates my eyes for some reason Confused

DO NOT use Vaseline on hair. It does not wash out and cornflour is needed to get rid of it!

HoneyDragon · 12/02/2018 22:10

More please. This sounds worth hearing Grin

WifeofDarth · 12/02/2018 22:15

Thanks ollivander it's the cantu custard that I tried and it's not amazing but will try the activator - there are just so many it's tricky to work out what's what. Great curls by the way !

Ollivander84 · 12/02/2018 22:15

Trills- yep. The activator is maybe a £1 size amount, I use loads of the custard, a tiny blob of lube and a drop of oil

GiraffeCat · 12/02/2018 22:19

One top tip I've tried for the shea moisture curling gel soufflé is to mix it with water - too much of it makes my hair sticky. But, add a fingertips worth to a travel spray bottle of plain water and spritz liberally when you would apply gel. Scrunch and allow to dry. Then break the cast. Amazing curls happened! 😊

Ollivander84

Your hair is gorgeous! I cowash but my hair hates Cantu, even if the curl custard smells like delicious pina colada Grin

Spangles1963 · 13/02/2018 17:38

PositivelyPERF Yes I did too!

TheArtOfNoise · 13/02/2018 17:50

What is co wash? Not heard of it before. Beautiful curls Olivander

woodlanddreamer · 13/02/2018 18:14

Co-wash = conditioner wash

Daisymalone · 13/02/2018 18:23

I'm trying this next time I wash my hair! 😀

BlackeyedSusan · 13/02/2018 18:25

still waitng, with the others, to know if you curled it with the fish slice.

What thread was that again? I remember reading the comment but pretty sure the actual thread was about something totally different..

TovaGoldCoin · 13/02/2018 20:04

I accidentally used my bottle of lube for a week instead of serum. Ingredients are about the same, andmy hair looked glossy..

IIRC, it was about how to get a pan off a ceramic hob after it had got stuck there. Lube and a fish slice worked for someone, apparently.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 14/02/2018 09:33

There's such a such a fine line between having moisturized curls and looking like a greasy chip.

I love the Creme of Nature Argan spritzer but too much of it makes the hair greasy, so I half and half it with water.
