To hate pizza express and prezzo

I've been to both a few times and recently went to pizza express for lunch after not going for a while and it was crap as always.

I don't always choose to go if you're wondering why I keep going back Grinjust get dragged along there sometimes and think maybe if I just try something different I'll find something nice I might like it, but every time it's just boring and bland badly cooked food.

I don't understand the hype? And I do like Italian food there's a small Italian in my town but it's only open in the evenings hence why I didn't go there.

Aibu?

(And if I get dragged into there again what should I try next Grin)

I agree that Frankie and Benny's is crap. Give me TGI's any day.

Pizza Express is our "go to" place for eating out. 2 of my dcs are autistic (so familiar food is a must -and chain places are good for that) and are gluten-free (again, ticks that box). It's one of the few places we can eat where I don't have to stress too much about what they eat.

Prezzo is great. Ask used to be very good but I was disappointed last time I went. Best lasagne in a chain is Bella Italia. Pizza Hut is truly rank, but sometimes a mound of greasy salame in your gob fulfills a need.

The best thing is that they are all like the Gap of the pizza joint. There's always at least a 25% voucher knocking around.

I like Pizza Express occasionally but this isn't an AIBU, it's a chat. Inflammatory post for the sake of it.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 13/02/2018 12:25

I’ve just remembered an ex colleague of mine who is very wealthy and has no kids goes to PE every single Sunday for dinner without fail. They walk past one of the best Italian restaurants in town to get there.

Someoneasdumbasthis · 13/02/2018 16:16

Frankie and Bennies? Give your taste buds a wobble. Worst restaurant ever. Kids love TGIs but DH and I think it's shite.

Nando's is great. Always delicious and you can have a healthier option.

I'd always be happy with a pizza express. Last time we went to ASK locally it was good too.

Would much rather go to a local pub or independent restaurant though.

BuzzKillington · 13/02/2018 19:33

Frankie and Benny's? Went once - it was just awful.

flightchecker · 13/02/2018 20:08

Frankie and benny's horrified me. I had no idea anywhere was that bad. And that's even having eaten at Wetherspoons.

Our local pizza express is nice but incredibly clattery. Bil is hearing impaired and can't ever eat there as he can't hear conversations. I wonder if they're all like that Hmm

Cherrycokewinning · 13/02/2018 20:09

Hype? About Prezzo?! It’s hardly chiltern firehouse 🤣 fwiw I think they’re both fine high street restaurants great for kids

Dustysparrow · 13/02/2018 20:23

Omg. YABVVU. Possibly the most unreasonable thing I have ever seen on AIBU as Pizza Express is lovely. We visit various locations of Pizza Express regularly and always have a great experience - fab food, nice staff, child friendly - what more d'ya want???? Confused

Bambooo · 13/02/2018 20:26

Pizza Express salad dressing is my crack. It makes everything better. Get a pot of it to dip your pizza in.

MikeAlphaMikeAlpha · 13/02/2018 20:53

I like pizza express, my dh doesn't rate it though so it's a place I take the kids & to meet friends for lunch. Nice food, nice environment for a chat. Prezzo not so much

hennaoj · 13/02/2018 23:21

I cannot understand why it is called Pizza Express. It has been Pizza SLOW everytime I have been in one.

JoeyMaynardssolidlump · 13/02/2018 23:23

We have both in our high street and both equally fine. Food good, place clean.
