Cutlery, I mean!

JacquesHammer · 12/02/2018 16:57

I always eat with a knife and fork when the meal dictates...unless DD is at her father's house then I spoil myself with dinner on the sofa with a book in one hand and just using a fork with the other Grin

SinglePringle · 12/02/2018 19:38

Julie most people I know do use a knife at every meal. In fact, I don’t think anyone I know just uses a knife.

SinglePringle · 12/02/2018 19:39

I mean, ‘just uses a fork

Guess we move in different circles. That does not mean it makes someone 'better mannered' because they choose to uses knives to seperate their food rather than just a fork. Either is just as valid.

PositivelyPERF · 12/02/2018 23:27

Your husband needs this, OP. 😁

Yes it does and no it is not.

Fact.

Julie8008 · 12/02/2018 23:58

JessieMcJessie
That make you a snob one of those people who think they are better than everyone else because you chose to follow arbitrary rules.

JessieMcJessie · 13/02/2018 00:04

No I am not better than everyone else. Just better than idiots who can’t use knives.

Julie8008 · 13/02/2018 00:12

No I am not better than everyone else. Just better than idiots who can’t use knives.

You are not better than someone who chooses to just use a fork. All Most adults can use knives, they just decide not to. Why are you better because you chose to use a knife. Its just personal preference. Might as well say your better than idiots who dont cut the crusts off their sandwiches. Your just a snob.

JessieMcJessie · 13/02/2018 00:15

I am also better than people who don’t know the difference between “your” and “you’re”.

llangennith · 13/02/2018 00:26

I’m even worse. I cut up the food in the kitchen and then use a spork. Nice little number bought from John Lewis. I love my sporksGrin

OlennasWimple · 13/02/2018 00:37

I like eating food that doesn't require a knife, because then I can MN with my spare hand I am lazy

Julie8008 · 13/02/2018 00:37

JessieMcJessie You also not as clever as people who lead you down the garden path. I guess snobbery doesn't come with intelligence.

llangennith Have a nice spork myself I use occasionally.

JessieMcJessie · 13/02/2018 00:45

Sorry Julie8008 you’ve lost me there. How have we got from your misguided insistence that there is no correct way to use cutlery to a frolic down the garden path?

Julie8008 · 13/02/2018 00:50

JessieMcJessie You haven't given a single reason why your better than some people because u hold a knife in 1 hand whilst eating?

ToadOfSadness · 13/02/2018 00:52

I find it strange that people push food onto the back of the fork, I know it is the 'polite' way to do it, but it makes no sense. Of course you are permitted to push peas into mashed potato to stop them falling off but why when you can just push them on to the front of the fork with the knife.

I use a knife only when I need one, but that is because I mainly live on bowls of salad, pasta and things that can be scooped up. When eating out I use a knife.

JessieMcJessie · 13/02/2018 00:57

[facepalm] I disagree with you about (a) what constitutes good manners in the UK in 2018 and (b) the importance of having said good manners. That is all there is to it. Night night 😉.

JessieMcJessie · 13/02/2018 00:58

Why do people keep saying ‘the back of the fork” when they mean “the end of the fork”? The world’s gone mad!

Julie8008 · 13/02/2018 01:01

I think Jessies silver spoon is in danger of falling out of her mouth.

JessieMcJessie · 13/02/2018 01:12

Jessie’s.

Julie8008 · 13/02/2018 01:18

There you go again showing you're blue blood Grin

Eliza9917 · 13/02/2018 10:35

Ophelialovescats · 13/02/2018 13:27

I agree with Jessie.
I think it looks awkward when people misuse cutlery .
There is a correct way to use the utensils whether you care to or not Julie. Google it.

fobiddenfruitcrumble · 13/02/2018 14:56

Do people really eat stir fry and noodles with a knife and fork?
