Apparently I am.

I was stood talking to him and it was one of those did I just see that moments.

Not only does he have a stinking but he licked the fucking spoon out the curry then plonked it back in to stir it. Potentially killing us all in the process. Absolute minger.

Apparently everyone does it (( they don't))

So AIBU in making him order takeaway from the rather amazing curry house up the road ?? lets face It, takeaway curry always tastes better and I have the perfect excuse

I think you are way over the top.
For once, I assume you have been sharing said germs in a lot of other ways anyway (touching handles from drawers, kissing etc..) butbthe heat from the cooking will have killed any germs anyway.

As for killing you... do you have any very serious leath issues with a very badly compromised immune system? I suspect not. So your immune system and the white cells will be able to deal with what is a very normal thing for human. Be in vague contact with the cold..

I can see where your coming from tbh. My ex use to drink juice out of the carton or try to take a bite out of my food and then expect me to still eat it. For some reason stuff like that just makes me feel sick. He never cooked but I would imagine he would do that aswell if he did.

floriad · 10/02/2018 19:00

I'm apparently a bloody minger. Wink Because it's genuinely not an issue imo.

But I do usually use the two spoon technique. but that's just habit...

Yes, yabu.

Eat the curry he cooked and order (an other, sill super delicious...) curry tomorrow?

Serialweightwatcher · 10/02/2018 19:00

Don't be mean - if he's bothered to cook, then eat it ... will be fine if it's boiled for a few mins first.

Did laugh at the "genitals in mouth" Grin .... just don't do that after a hot curry Confused

NotReadyToMove · 10/02/2018 19:01

He should have taste tested with an ordinary spoon then put it away to wash.
Seeing the number if times I am actually sting food when I am cooking, I would need a hell of a lot of spoons in the house.
I also assume you have a dishwasher?

Sometimes reasons need to win. And reason says that people will survive to using the same spoon to taste the food and cook.
The stuff about the germ and the food being contaminated so much that yoU will get ill is in youR mind tbh.

Springtrolls · 10/02/2018 19:05

You do realise that by being in the same space as him, you will catch his germs, right?
So whether you eat the food or not, he's going to kill you all anyway. Might as well enjoy your last home cooked meal

GetShitDone · 10/02/2018 19:05

I can't believe the number of people that think this is ok!

It wouldn't bother me too much normally (although I encourage my kids not to), but with a cold?

YADNBU

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2018 19:05

YANBU OP. Double dipping is horrible but especially if you have germs-there's no need for it.

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 10/02/2018 19:07

I think you are being unreasonable....unless relations are strictly penetration only, no foreplay or kissing, and take place in a sterile room wearing rubber gloves and face masks with hand sanitiser on tap to rub all over yourself after the deed has taken place you have probably swallowed much more than a bit of saliva...I know I have!

Blackteadrinker77 · 10/02/2018 19:08

There'll be worse in the takeout

silkpyjamasallday · 10/02/2018 19:09

Too true @Blackteadrinker77

You are being ridiculous OP

Andrewofgg · 10/02/2018 19:09

Two people sharing their lives will share their colds.

But you never need an excuse for getting in a good curry so YANBU.

But you must now tell us what you ordered and how good it was Smile

floriad · 10/02/2018 19:09

Seeing the number if times I am actually sting food when I am cooking, I would need a hell of a lot of spoons in the house.

You only need two spoons.

Use spoon A to dip into the pot. Pour the contents of spoon A on spoon B. Taste food with spoon B.

Repeat as often as need / wanted.

That's what we were taught in home ec classes.

Twoo · 10/02/2018 19:10

Intimacy issues if you swap your bodily fluids with a man but won’t allow double dipping Biscuit Grin

floriad · 10/02/2018 19:10

But the OP is still ridiculous.

It's just a little saliva...

ShapelyBingoWing · 10/02/2018 19:11

I'd be right pissed off if your suggestion to get a takeaway came while I was already cooking and then you made a crappy excuse about why what I was cooking was inedible.

FairiesVsPixies · 10/02/2018 19:11

It really wouldn't bother me, but then I'm a dirty bitch Grin

Messagefromyoshimi · 10/02/2018 19:12

Would put me off too. Good excuse for a takeaway.

Last week I bought both (snotty) DC a piece of bubblegum each. They had never tried it before and couldn't get the hang of blowing bubbles so gave me their well chewed bubble gum from their mouths and I chewed it some more and demonstrated. Urgh.

Dozer · 10/02/2018 19:12

YABU.

People who blame friends/family when they get a cold are boring, self absorbed PITAs!

oblada · 10/02/2018 19:12

Oh my God! Is double dipping even an issue?? Have a reality check people! Far worse happens in the world or indeed in your local restaurant!

FindoGask · 10/02/2018 19:12

To be fair to poor old OP, she clearly isn't worried about a bit of spit. It's the cold she doesn't want. But as others have said, give the curry a good simmer and all will be well.

FluffyMcCloud · 10/02/2018 19:13

I'm amazed you think you can guarantee a take away is better when you don't even know the state of the kitchen it is cooked in or who cooked it! Surely much safer to stick to food cooked in your own house by your partner if you are that germ phobic? I'm surprised you'd ever risk a take away!!

Shockers · 10/02/2018 19:14

I was once about to throw away half an ice cream that I’d been licking, but was too big for me. My friend’s husband ate it instead. I was more that slightly horrified, but that was 2 years ago and he’s still alive.

sirfredfredgeorge · 10/02/2018 19:17

Do people have a massive pile of spoons next to their stove? so they taste, chuck spoon in dishwasher, taste, chuck spoon in dishwasher...
