I'm planning to go soon - what are your must-have?

OP posts:
Eminybob · 09/02/2018 19:22

Big goblet red wine glasses
Zip lock bags
Batteries

Please can you get all the above for me when you go. I’ll pay you back Grin

AmethystRaven · 09/02/2018 19:22

I got a floor lamp for £5 this week! It's not super fancy but it does the job and looks fine. I had never been before and we found loads of things that would make our house much better storage wise.

MikeUniformMike · 09/02/2018 19:24

If you can, go twice. One to have a very good long hard look round.
Then to pop in and get what you have carefully considered where it will go, will it fit, do you really need it and so on.

WTFIsThisVirus · 09/02/2018 19:26

Don't buy anything, just try out every single sofa and bed

DP hates going with me Grin

LidlAngel · 09/02/2018 19:27

Washing up brushes with the sucky cup on the bottom. I grab them by the handful.

Stormwhale · 09/02/2018 19:28

The fake sheepskin rug (£10). I have it over one of their cheap white swivel chairs in my bedroom and it looks fab!

Stormwhale · 09/02/2018 19:29

And my god the daim cake.

MikeUniformMike · 09/02/2018 19:29

Get a family card.

Dollyparton3 · 09/02/2018 19:30

Kitchen cupboard shelving platforms, they’re amazing in our cupboards in the “ingredients, marmite, jams, bottles, stock cubes and all manner of jars” one, and glasses. Every time we have a set that goes misty in the dishwasher we chuck them and replace the whole set for about £6.

Dollyparton3 · 09/02/2018 19:31

And thank you so much for the mini rain dipped in peanut butter suggestion. My muffin top wont thank you but I will!

Dollyparton3 · 09/02/2018 19:31

“Daim” I meant

malterbitty · 09/02/2018 19:32

EVERYTHING!

lookingforthedroids · 09/02/2018 19:34

Well that's torn it.

I had nothing at all planned for tomorrow, and was going to have a lazy day doing zilch.

But now... I'm going to have to go for an Ikea fix tomorrow now, thanks to you lot Grin

octopusrus · 09/02/2018 19:35

Following!

FuzzyCustard · 09/02/2018 19:40

An IKEA is opening near(ish) me this year. STUPIDLY EXCITED!!!!
I miss it lots since I moved.

VenusOfWillendorf · 09/02/2018 19:41

The freezer bags, come in lots of sizes and really strong.
The octopus dryer for socks.

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 09/02/2018 19:43

There's a rule they don't let you out until you've picked up £20 worth of stuff you didn't realise you needed (but totally do) Grin.

Food clips, glasses, duvet covers, random kitchen accessories - you can't go wrong!

user1471426142 · 09/02/2018 19:49

Depends whether you think you’d be on the love it (or see It as a day out) or hate it spectrum. If the later, just do online. Although the online delivery charge is high, it’ll be less than all the crap you pick up for the sake of it.

I didn’t have any Ikea until we had kids. Our house is now full of kallax, kids furniture and the art stuff as does every other house I seem to visit with small children.

VenusOfWillendorf · 09/02/2018 19:50

The multi coloured kids bowls, indestructible and a good size for dips.
Face cloths, come in packs of four for next to nothing.
They have lovely wrapping paper, and notebooks.
Tupperware. And they have a lovely picnic basket in this year's summer collection.
The kallax cubes and the boxes to go with them - hold a multitude and its easier to pull out a box to find things than rummage in a cupboard.
I LOVE the raskog trolleys.

Can you tell where I spent last Saturday ....

SandAndSea · 09/02/2018 19:53

If you have to go, buy tea lights. But, I really wouldn't bother. It's horrible there.

bluechameleon · 09/02/2018 19:58

The wooden book racks in the children's department are really good and cheap. I was looking at alternatives for £50+ until I found that one and it is just as good.

Fallenmadonnawiththebigboobies · 09/02/2018 20:03

Blueberry cordial, mini diam bars, washing up brushes, thin plastic chopping boards, food bag clips & ziplock bags in all sizes.

NathanTheProphet · 09/02/2018 20:04

An egg slicer.

Clawdy · 09/02/2018 20:04

Another vote here for the octopus peg dryer. I've had a few sock dryers and this one is just so strong and well made.

Hygge · 09/02/2018 20:13

Sotsak Skumtopp tea cake things from the shop at the end. They are better than Tunnock's or any other similar.

Also if they have it get the Marabou Milk Chocolate with salted liquorice bits in it.

The last time we went they had some drinks that were tree flavoured (pine and birch I think) and although they look and also taste like air freshener I think I'd buy them again. Probably after standing and debating "Did we like this or did it just taste like air freshener?" before getting it anyway.

Cloudberry jam is delicious, definitely try it.

And if you've got a family card have a look at their books, I've bought some really good books from them with very good discounts because of the family card.
