AIBU the elephant pile in the room

Recently our family has grown from 4 to 5. DD was a surprise, we also have DS1 and DS2 plus I have a male DP so the washing And ironing pile resembles an elephant it's soooo big. It doesn't matter what I do it never goes away it's always just there.
In my mother's house growing up she ironed everything, bedsheets even (seriously!), so I have always felt I should do the same, but I am not as organised as she is. So I guess my question is AIBU to just declare unless absolutely necessary, ironing just isn't happening any more? Confused

I think it's easier for women as there are lots of options that are suitable wear in places that men would have to wear a shirt and tie.
I don't buy non iron versions of stuff, I wear skinny fit black trousers so any creases are stretched out when I put them on and tops that are stretchy or slinky material that wouldn't crease in a million years. Added bonus in that it all comes out of the wash almost dry!

My DH wears polo shirts to work, they are a crumpled mess but that’s his responsibility not mine, he knows where the iron and ironing board are if he cares to use them, I wear non-iron dresses and cardigans which I hang to dry and iron once in a blue moon when they start to look scruffy.
One of my colleagues did once question how I could ‘let’ DH go to work in an unironed shirt, I looked genuinely confused and said that since we both worked full time why on earth would it be anything to do with me. They wandered off looking like I’d just overturned their whole understanding of the world!

I can't seem to find a decent ironing service, so everything is no-iron now. Except handkerchiefs - there's nothing nicer than an ironed handkerchief!

Don't throw your iron away as suggested by pp's, you'll need it in a few years time for your dd's Hama bead creations

I am wondering if some are misunderstanding the question.

YOU might not iron but if you have a partner who has work shirts/blouses then maybe they do them or you send them to someone, or your cleaner does it (if you have one!). We used to and it seemed to be part of the role that they undertook.

If you have a professional job, meeting clients/meetings with senior management that absolutely you should be ironing your clothes especially shirts. A couple of times I have attended meetings and one chap has turned up in an un-ironed shirt. I think they think people wont notice. It goes with the scuffed shoes that again no one will notice (we do!)

Yep my DH can iron 5 shirts in 5 minutes, it’s worth watching as he’s just so proficient. Unfortunately so speedy I forget to whip out school uniform for him to do. But it’s ok as all tumble dried so I just smooth it out and fold.
I do have my own collection of crumbled clothes that need ironing. I should do it as it’ll be like buying new clothes!

I iron shirts, dresses and the DCs clothes that come out of the wash looking like they've been scrunched I'm a ball for 1947492 years. DM came to stay a couple of weeks ago and took over the laundry(!!) for a few days and IRONED MY SCRATTY LEGGINGS! My general rule is that if something still looks creased after a couple of hours wear it should be ironed Wink

I iron nothing. Not a thing. I have an iron. Couldn't tell you where it was. Some of DD's tops have little Peter Pan collars that do get wrinkled so I just use my hair straighteners on them (my GHD's are just the right size) but that's as far as it goes. I find if you fold them up still slightly warm thats just as good. A good blow on the line in nice weather usually does the trick as well.

My MIL on the other hand irons EVERYTHING. Including underpants, socks and sheets. What is the point of doing sheets?
