In the Lily Savage clip Barbara is amazing. She has such a unique, delicate quality to her voice. It looks effortless.

This thread inspired me to watch the Youtube video of TOTP with them singing this. Both incredible singers but I couldn't judge them because I was too distracted by the absolute hideousness of the 80s hair and fashion!

Barbara Dixon all the way. Her rendition of Scars of Love gives me the shivers every time.

I have really enjoyed watching all the songs . Barbara every time for me although I am biased as she went to the same school as me ..., quite a few years before I was there though.

Elaine sounds nasally on that sound. Love Barbara’s deeper tone. Love the song. The line “no one in your life is with you constantly, no one is completely on your side” made my appreciate the love of my parents

Elaine had a voice that allowed her to sing Evita eight shows a week which is impossible. Not surprising that it's a bit Teflon.

I love so many of the British female singers who were around at that time, especially Barbara Dixon, Elkie Brooks and Kiki Dee. I don't know why they were never superstars.

I think Elkie Brooks released a new album last year. They were playing her songs on radio 2 a lot. IMO she still has it.
