dirty buggers in toilets

Is it too much to ask that if you go to the toilet (outpatients this morning) that the person before you does not leave shit splattered all over the toilet bowl? I tried three toilets this morning before I found one that looked clean enough to use. I mean why do it ?. Is it too much to ask for people to clean up after themselves for heaven's sake?. It only takes a quick wipe with the toilet paper and then a good handwash. No sodding wonder Nova Virus is rampant. I feel sorry for the cleaners because there is now enough money in the world that would warrant that cleanup operation never mind the pittage they earn. And these are 'ladies' toilets.

When I was a student I had a little job cleaning a night club on a Saturday and Sunday morning, My god you would not believe the mess everything from sick, poo, wee on the floor, women that liked to write on the toilets in lipstick why?, and the odd used condom

Iprefercoffeetotea · 02/02/2018 17:08

The loo paper on the floor really winds me up. I always pick it up myself and put it in the loo. Is it that hard? Clearly it is!

hazeyjane · 02/02/2018 17:08

(campaign for fully accessible toilets)

swapsicles · 02/02/2018 17:08

A few times now we've had a person (or possibly persons) poo on the floor in thr middle of the aisle of a retail shop where I work, not always solid either!
We have loos they seem to prefer letting it drop before getting there!!

KittyLover91 · 02/02/2018 17:09

Im a receptionist in an office building and the ladies ground floor toilets that are used for 2 companies as well as visitors for any floor are disgusting!

I have had to go in the toilets to lock the cubicle to find what can only be described as a shitty explosion, tampons floating in bloody water or toilets just blocked with pure shit but there is no tissue - this one concerns me! Are they going back to their desks with shitty arses?

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 02/02/2018 17:10

People are gross. Someone in the chemo unit yesterday kept leaving wee all over the seat Hmm and yes to all the weird smears on the cubicle wall. What on Earth are people doing?! My local M&S seems to be the worst for that.

Though if the mess is inside the toilet bowl, it's not exactly pleasant but I wouldn't have thought it's that much of a health risk unless you are touching the inside of the toilet bowl Confused assuming you close the lid to flush and wash your hands properly, then the risk of germs is probably minimal.

Idontdowindows · 02/02/2018 17:14

I used to clean toilets in an industrial area that were only used by men.

There was shit on the ceilings. Every bloody day.

BerkInBag · 02/02/2018 17:15

I thought this was going to be another of those Trans in women's toilets threads - with a more blunt than usual thread title.

Anyhoo, YANBU.

WatchingFromTheWings · 02/02/2018 17:21

Ex-retail worker here. My list would be identical to @DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops, apart from the needles.

Also , if the public loo we had was blocked, people would piss in the sink! Or the bin.

KittyLover91 · 02/02/2018 17:22

Shit on the ceilings lol!

I thought only monkeys threw their shit about?

Polarbearflavour · 02/02/2018 17:23

I have a bowel disease and get horrific tummies...but I carry anti bac wipes and clean up after myself!

Waffles80 · 02/02/2018 17:25

@HildaZelda you are being racist / xenophobic. Teenagers behave in abominable ways the world over. Their ethnic origin has nothing to do with it and your mentioning of it is really bigoted.

Romany and traveller communities experience mistreatment and discrimination on a huge scale; in associating poor behaviour of a group of teens directly with their ethnic and cultural origin you perpetuate this.

Topseyt · 02/02/2018 17:26

Some people are just utterly disgusting shits.

Try to leave it as you would wish to find it is the rule I work by. At least flush the toilet, and make sure sanitary towels and tampons(and nappies) are wrapped up and in the correct bins.

Smearing shit on walls and ceilings?? How and why? Disgraceful, and also surely way more effort than just using the toilet properly? What's the betting that these lowlife don't even wash their hands after doing that, and before eating.

The mind boggles.

Jaygee61 · 02/02/2018 17:30

A government office aI worked in years ago, someone used to leave used sanitary towels down the toilet and blood on the seat and floor. We always knew when that person was on her period.

amusedbush · 02/02/2018 17:30

I work in a university. We have these issues - in our staff toilet.

Same here. We had a phase of shit on the actual toilet seat, which is either from someone standing on the seat to squat or from someone with fucking terrible spacial awareness.

Grim.

WingsOnMyBoots · 02/02/2018 17:32

The worst thing is when you have no choice and you HAVE to go in and use one that someone else has left a mess. The dilemma is then 'do I clean this up or use the toilet as normal and leave it'? I say this because the problem with leaving it is that if the next person using it sees you're the last one out they automatically assume it's YOU! But why SHOULD you clean up someone else's mess? I actually did used to clean it up - if it wasn't too bad but now I don't. I know I have a clear conscience. 'Though I do always feel like saying 'that WASN'T me! It was already there!' which, of course, convinces the person that you are liar and it WAS you!

Polarbearflavour · 02/02/2018 17:34

I used to be a flight attendant and a loo was covered in vomit once. We closed it off. Cabin manager said we weren’t paid to get covered in vomit!

PavlovianLunge · 02/02/2018 17:34

Once on a train, the toilet was fine, but the washbasin was full of piss. If I hadn’t seen it, I would never have believed it.

BarbarianMum · 02/02/2018 17:37

I'm not sticking my hand in a toilet bowl to clean it. Happy to use a loo brush if provided.

booqueue · 02/02/2018 17:38

I've cleaned toilets.

Seen lots of grim stuff but I can never understand the boogies wiped on the walls or loo roll dispenser.

People are VILE

Melamin · 02/02/2018 17:38

My experience of staying on a mixed sex hospital ward - before op - one guy who had shaved in the sink and not rinsed it - then after my op, getting to the nearest toilet only to find someone had emptied the contents of their electric shaver all over the toilet and having to clean it up to use it - the alternative being to walk to the other end of the ward whilst still coming round from the anaesthetic. Grim.

WingsOnMyBoots · 02/02/2018 17:39

"I'm not sticking my hand in a toilet bowl to clean it. Happy to use a loo brush if provided" BarbarianMum

What if it's a mess though?

Commuterface · 02/02/2018 17:40

I work in a university. We have these issues - in our staff toilet. I have added keeping it clean to my ever growing list of admin tasks.

Maybe you work in the one I work in. Someone left an actual full sized shit on the toilet seat.

Violetrose123 · 02/02/2018 17:41

The toilets at my work are utterly grim. Blood on the seat, pee on the floor and constant skid marks. Sanitary items left on top of the bins. This is in a “professional” office.

They regularly get blocked and people continue to use them instead of reporting it to our facilities team. I feel sorry for the poor sod who has to come out an unblock the mound of used bog roll

BarbarianMum · 02/02/2018 17:44

I think if the owner of a toilet wants it to be left clean then the very least they can do is provide a toilet brush or access to disinfectant or gloves. If they don't then they clearly don't care about the state of their toilet so why should I? Seriously, I don't get the Mumsnet idea that loo brushes are totally disgusting but you're supposed to stick your hand down there. Urgh.
