Itchy flaky scalp...nothing is working :-(

Just that really!! Can anyone recommend any shampoo for a flaky dry and itchy scalp? I have tried applying oil before washing my hair but it hasn't helped :-((

Body shop ginger shampoo is the only thing that works for my hair.

Head and shoulders itchy scalp worked for me.

Another vote for body shop ginger shampoo!

TGel. Buy it in a chemist/Boots etc. Don't pay the extra for the one they keep behind the counter, start with the one on the shampoo shelf.

Cheap £1 Vosene daily. My husband bought everything possible & finally this has sorted it.

Body Shop ginger shampoo. I didn't realise how dry and itchy my scalp was until I started using it.

The Lush Honey Shampoo is the only one that worked for me. I don't use it all the time, just when I have a flare up.

I had years of trying everything from Head and Shoulders to tgel etc and they didn’t really work.

Have you tried Selsun from behind the counter in a chemist? That seems a really effective one on both me and DH.
I have to say I don’t use it any more, I had success with SLS free ones.

The Jason daily one on here is my favourite. It’s the only thing that doesn’t leave me itchy! I also get on pretty well with the Avalon and Aubrey organics.

Nizoral - its the best thing out there trust me. 3 days in and my scalp is clear....

I second Nizoral, but you really do have to let it sit for a few minutes or it won't work. Also get a shampoo brush off eBay, they work wonders.

I’ve tried all the above, I currently use a new L’oreal Elvive anti dandruff in a green bottle, I think I’ve got the refreshing version, does the trick for me.

Try an sls free one- I love the Shea moisture Jamaican black castor oil one. I think boots have it and do amazon

Green People shampoo and washing your hair less.

I stopped washing my hair for a couple of months, then started with the Green People shampoo once a week. My scalp improved by about 95%. Use it twice a week since having DS.

Nothing else I tried worked. I can be sensitive to things - deodorants and face moisturisers are risky for me as well - but the shampoo/scalp thing was by far the worst.

Body shop ginger all the way. I had scalp psoriasis as a teen and tried t-gel, nizoral, all the medicated stuff. The ginger Body Shop shampoo was the only thing to shift the itchiness. And it smells way better than other scalp shampoos.

This worked for me, Eucerin Scalp Treatment Balm (bought in on Amazon) when I had tried everything else including nizoral, and neutrogena

Phillip Kingsley's Itchy Flaky Shampoo - the name says it all! I swear by it - just about all other shampoos cause a reaction. That one works a treat. It's not the cheapest but it's the most effective I've found and I've tried so many. It's got a lovely apple scent and is very gentle. :-)

could it be psorisis?

Water filter for the shower head is the only thing that worked for me. I got an awful itchy, red, flaky scalp when I moved to London and spent a small fortune on special shampoos and organic products....the water filter is the only thing that did the trick

Nizoral, or alternatively get the Boots 2% ketoconazole shampoo, it's the same stuff cheaper

SLS-free makes mine worse.

Alternating Alphosyl and Exorex during a flare up.

Rotating Exorex with H&S itchy scalp, Aussie Mega and Garnier sensitive with oats when it's less bad. Using the same shampoo more than a couple of days in a row seems to make mine worse too.

Nizoral. Agree it needs time to work though.
