Just that really!! Can anyone recommend any shampoo for a flaky dry and itchy scalp? I have tried applying oil before washing my hair but it hasn't helped :-((

SLS-free here too. It was honestly life changing, but I went from constant itching and horrible dandruff to totally clear in a couple of weeks.

My favourite is L'Oreal Everpure, but any SLS-free one is fine, it's then just a matter of which one leaves your hair nicest.

DS,14, is showing he may have inherited the psoriasis on the scalp from me, and he uses a non SLS shampoo with Nizoral used every so often. Same as me, actually, although he doesn't use a conditioner. Works for us.

TGel brilliant stuff

mix coconut oil and lemon juice use as a scalp rub before you wash your hair and use a baby shampoo and try a mild conditioner on the ends

I had the same issue and tried lots of anti dandruff

shampoo. I then tried the Suma Rose and Geranium shampoo as I liked the smell and haven't had issues since and it's been nearly three years!

Going against the grain here... I had a similar problem for years.... I’d look to treat the cause rather than just the symptoms. I’d look at your diet alongside different shampoos. Cutting out or down on certain food types (wheat, dairy etc) may do the trick, but unfortunately it’s trial and error, and you need to give it a week or so for each food type. Also, try an anti-histamine a day.

ask at a hair salon, sometimes they have hair products designed for medical problems, mum was given some designed to help with Chemo issues ( kind of them but her chemo wiped her hair out first pop) and for the itching i was given a sample of a peppermint based shampoo, smelt great and didnt foam, thats designed to calm the scalp and the low foam was to cause less irritant to the scalp... so worth a chat to your hair professionals

The E45 one is good but expensive so I don't use it often!

My daughter had this really badly and I got some shampoo by shea moisture called Jamaican black caster. It has completely cleared up the problem. I think it's because it contains apple cider vinegar. It smells lovely. This is it:

my mum uses e45 dry scalp shampoo. it's only about £5/6. the other dry scalp ones I've seen are £10+

Any other symptoms? Mine was related to other allergy type symptoms I have also always had intermittently I realised eventually. (Frequent sore throat, headache, ENT symptoms, itchy in other areas). Only made sense when I started to get hives and rashes. No issue with scalp since identified the trigger.

Joico daily treatment shampoo. My go to product originally recommended by a Trichologist. Around £10 or less online.
