Iv given birth 3 months ago and had my first period last week it was so bad I ended up in hospital for two days they said the linning of my womb is so thick. I'm now on tranexamic acid to calm it down and postin..it has lightened down and hopefully it'll soon be over but now I'm being advised to get a Mirena coil in because of heavy periods but iv heard its really sore and the clamping feeling is bad just wondering has anyone had it done and how bad is it just so I can be prepared.. My doctor reckons mine should be no problem as iv had six children and my cervix is easy to find

I got mine out under general anaesthetic after the strings went AWOL. Took ages from referral to removal

first one, done by GP done with no pain relief hurt ALOT. Second time around I went to a family planning clinic and had it inserted with an injection of local anaesthetic to the cervix and it was absolutely fine, very little discomfort. My advice to you is go to a family planning clinic not to your local doctors.

My gp wouldn't fit my copper coil- they refer everyone to the fpc for it!
I have a low pain threshold and mine went in with no pain meds and i went shopping all day afterwards. Some light, period like cramps.
