I've just msgd my DP (of 8 months) to ask if he could print some PDF's for me at work, as my own printer has just given up the ghost and I can't get out to access another right now - these are doc's for Uni which I could really do with asap and he usually comes to mine of a Friday evening so thought he could bring them.

Anyway, he said no problem and gave me his personal (Sky) address, only he has to wait to use his mum's printer before coming to mine, instead of just using the one at work. This happened a few months ago, too, where for some reason, he was hesitant to give me his work email add and I'm now wondering why - does he not trust me? He works for the government so does he think maybe we might split and I'll give his email add out? Hmm

I know this may sound a bit daft, but why would he not just give me his works email? Sad

It can be seen as theft and a sackable offence.

Any reason you can't go to uni and print them or a library?

Maybe you should just sort your printer out rather than keep asking him to do it. Lots of firms don't allow personal emails or printing.

Honestly every place you've probably ever worked at and go on to work at will have the ability to monitor your personal and professional emails if you see accessing them through company hardware.

Quite often they don't care to, right up until the point when it becomes convenient for them to want to do so. It's not worth getting into your own mouse trap if you can help it.

Iliketeabagging · 26/01/2018 17:32

Because for some employers personal printing is gross misconduct? It carries a cost, which in this case would be paid by innocent taxpayers.

Jux · 27/01/2018 16:31

In that case, Mellodrama, I apologise for being curt and rude.

(But we do say 'pissed' here Wink )

Why don't people read all the comments on a thread before commenting? OP was told that he could get in trouble for it, she said she didn't realise. Done.
