AIBU to think this is a bit cheeky?

New neighbours moved in across the road from us (I say new- they have been there about a year now ) . I have been getting several amazon , ASOS , etc delivery’s for them .
Thought nothing of it as I get plenty myself until yesterday when neighbour lady came and knocked the door for her parcel about lunchtime . “ oh I hope I didn’t wake the DC “she says “no” says I “just me as they are at nursery today as I had work last night”
“Oh” she says (looking a bit uncomfortable) “so you work then?”
Me Confused “erm yes , but I work night shifts as it is easier with childcare etc etc”

Anyhow - turns out they had purposely selected my address as their delivery address as they thought I was in all day and didn’t work because they had seen my car outside before !

They didn’t ask if this is ok and also there are several actually retired people in the street who aren’t sleeping off nightshifts whom they could have had the parcels delivered too!

For the past year I have been woken up after a night shift several times due to this . Am a bit annoyed and miffed - I would never have done something like this - especially because I only know they to smile and wave at on passing!

AIBU?
Sorry if typos on phone and knackered!!

LMAO they are total CFs!! I'd be beefing up my home security from now on Shock

SparklySeaShell · 26/01/2018 12:02

Have you noticed the address on the parcels, is it actually your address? If it is they are massive CF's!!!

Babyiwantabump · 26/01/2018 12:03

No it’s there address - but they had been selecting leave at neighbour at number xx for every delivery!

I had started to think it was a bit odd tbf - normally delivery drivers knock the houses either side when your out - not across the road and down the street!

Bellamuerte · 26/01/2018 12:10

Have you told them to stop it? I would start rejecting deliveries until they get the message.

Babyiwantabump · 26/01/2018 12:11

I have now! I didn’t even realise they were doing it in the first place!

ShockCF

Yukbuck · 26/01/2018 12:16

Suppose it's a bit odd but to be honest it's not the end of the world! Just sleep with ear plugs in and ignore the door

Idontdowindows · 26/01/2018 12:17

When you go to sleep, put a note on the door saying you're not accepting parcels for neighbours!

And I'd be telling them to stop it pronto as well.

That's blooming cheeky of them.

Babyiwantabump · 26/01/2018 12:20

Can’t sleep with earplugs - need to hear my alarm to wake up to collect DC or I would use them

GlitterGlue · 26/01/2018 12:22

That is damn cheeky.

cookiedough1 · 26/01/2018 12:25

The very first thing I would have done after being woken by a delivery when working nights would be to put a note on my front door so that it did not happy again. I can't believe you have been woken up for a year by someone else's parcels and didn't think to be pro active and put a stop to it. Yes the neighbour is a CF, but come on, you could have said no how many times over the past year?

Babyiwantabump · 26/01/2018 12:45

I know cookie - but I didn’t know they were doing it on purpose until today.

I just thought it was one of those things . Only when I found out it was intentional I realised how cheeky they had been!

babymouse · 26/01/2018 12:47

Get a vibrating alarm 😉

TrickyD · 26/01/2018 12:47

Why don't you simply ask her to change the delivery instructions? Yes, it was cheeky to use your address without asking, but she did not realise you worked nights.
She 'looked uncomfortable' when you told her, so would probably change arrangements without making a fuss.
Why ask us when you could have spoken to her on numerous occasions and got it sorted?

Littlejayx · 26/01/2018 12:51

My neighbors did this!!!

I kept getting knocks at the door from the same amazon driver, at least three times a week. He told me that across the road put my house as preferable delivery! I only moved in four months ago and must have seen I was very pregnant and going on mat leave Hmm. The driver didn’t bother knocking on after this and just put refused delivery. They have avoided me since

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/01/2018 12:55

I would reject the deliveries. There's only one neighbour I take in parcels for anyway and I have her key so I leave it in her hall. I don't want people knocking on the door at all hours.

BeeHobz · 26/01/2018 13:11

This has happened to me too! Ever since I started mat leave a few months ago, my neighbours have had all sorts delivered- power tools, amazon stuff, ASOS, wine, shoes...

It got really bad at Xmas - one Friday the doorbell went six times in one day. And it always happens when I'm sat with my boob out, breastfeeding.

I've stopped answering the door now - f@"k em. And if I do get caught, I refuse the parcel. I hope they get the message soon!!!!

CF!

MissMisery · 26/01/2018 13:13

Good grief!! CF to the max!! For heavens sake don't take any more in.

Littlejayx · 26/01/2018 13:58

@beehobz the delivery driver often caught me just as the boob got whipped out 😂

GlorianaBanana · 26/01/2018 14:07

My neighbour did this to me when my dd was born. I'm not a mean person, I don't mind taking in the occasional parcel but eventually it was happening around 3 times a week. The last parcel was huge, I refused to accept it (it would have been impossible for me to get out my house with the pushchair). I didn't receive any parcels after that. I assume delivery company told neighbour we refused to accept. We then moved!!

FluffyWhiteTowels · 26/01/2018 14:58

Hope she buys you a vair super present for her CFukerness now she knows Grin

Funkyslippers · 26/01/2018 16:09

it's not the end of the world!

OP didn't say it was. She asked if it was a bit cheeky, which is putting it mildly!

PiffleandWiffle · 26/01/2018 16:11

I put "if not in, leave at number ##" on all my orders as I know that my (retired) neighbours are in most of the time if I'm not.

I haven't asked them (and won't) - I look at it as fair dibs for all the bits & bobs I do for them....

HeebieJeebies456 · 26/01/2018 17:14

You might want to mention it 'in passing' to your other - more vulnerable - neighbours in case they get targeted for this fuckery.

They can always arrange delivery for when they're in, the weekend, at work or arrange collection from a store/post office.
