Emma McVey - 28lbs Weight loss 10 days after giving birth

Just been reading about Emma McVey in the paper - she has managed to lose 28lbs just 10 days after giving birth & is back to the weight she was before being pregnant! Shock

Now I don't really care about celebrities & the stories printed about them. I always think each to their own & whatever makes you happy, but this has really got my goat!

AIBU to think that this is completely ridiculous? Why the hell would you be so concerned with losing weight straight after giving birth? Surely you would have more important things to think about & you'd be enjoying your new baby!

Found the news item ... (Still have no fucking clue who she is!) And yeah she DOES say she lost the weight AFTER giving birth.

www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/5427252/emma-mcvey-28lb-weight-loss-10-days-after-giving-birth/

EMMA McVey was criticised by fans after she revealed she's lost 28lb in the 10 days since she gave birth.

I call bullshit.

@worraliberty

This is 28lb of actual baby weight, not 28lb of fat.

I know that. But I don't believe that she lost 28 pounds within 10 days - AFTER giving birth.... I don't give a shit if it's fat, water, or fucking milkshake, no way did she lose 28 pounds.

She is saying it was after she had the baby, so this is not including the weight of the baby, this is AFTER that. Read the article. Surely no-one is gullible enough to believe this crap?

@kaytee87

I lost 2 stone straightaway

What, like the same day? The same week? Within 2 weeks?

How soon was 'straightaway?'

Blackteadrinker77 · 26/01/2018 10:56

It is not possible to lose 28lbs in ten days and still be alive

It includes the placenta weight, babies weight and the amniotic fluid weight.

They don't really put weight on during the pregnancy. They calorie count so that they are just eating over their normal weight by what the baby needs.
They have no weight to lose.
The 10 days is just waiting for the swelling to go down.

kaytee87 · 26/01/2018 10:59

@hiphopchick I think within 2 weeks, I wasn't particularly weighing myself regularly. As I said that included baby's weight, placenta, fluid, blood, bf calories...

foxychox · 26/01/2018 11:00

Meh, she has literally no other reason to be in the "news" apart from this so she is obviously scrabbling around trying to stay relevant. Undoubtedly she will be peddling her own range of prams soon alongside the fat-burning shakes Hmm...

DesignedForLife · 26/01/2018 11:00

If you have a 10lb baby and 10lbs of water/placenta/etc and include that in the weight loss it doesn't sound that impossible.

Sarahh2014 · 26/01/2018 11:01

Her baby was 6lb apparently it's still a lot of weight to lose though

midnightmisssuki · 26/01/2018 11:01

28 pounds in 10 days? Thats 12kg right? I lost that weight in less than 10 days. It was all water/placenta/baby. It IS possible.

midnightmisssuki · 26/01/2018 11:02

My son was born big - about 9lb. I am naturally small. It was all baby. Trust me - it does happen.

Amatree · 26/01/2018 11:04

I put on 28lbs while pregnant and I would say all but about 5lbs was gone within ten days, most was baby and fluid. Everyone's different - why so much doubt! I wouldn't boast about it though, partly because it's mean to people who might be worrying and partly because it was pure luck and no achievement of my own!

Jaunty · 26/01/2018 11:15

She looks amazing post birth however you only have to look at photos of her at full term to know she didn't put on any significant weight during pregnancy nor have 28 pounds of fat to lose. It's all just spin and exaggeration to try and flog whatever it is she's trying to sell. It's implied it fat loss but actually it's baby, placenta, extra blood, water retention etc etc that's been lost or expelled. If she's happy of her post birth body and wants to show it off then great, but to lie about how she got back into shape so quickly is pretty low. Anyone with half a brain can see its all BS.

lindsaydoll82 · 26/01/2018 11:20

I gave birth recently and weighed myself a week after I got home from hospital so I was 12 days postpartum. I was shocked I had lost the 21lbs I gained plus a few extra lbs. I certainly didn't do anything to lose it apart from the stress of giving birth and coping with a newborn baby. It's definitely possible!

Purplerain101 · 26/01/2018 11:24

I remember reading an interview In a magazine with her and Gaz. He stated that she never touches any carbs and is extremely strict with her diet. She’s very slim so maybe she also just has a fast metabolism. My OH eats a revolting amount of food and he doesn’t even get bloated. I’m sure dating someone like Gaz would put pressure on her too as he’s known for being a cheating womaniser. She probably feels like she has to look her best 24/7 to keep him interested long term (which is really sad)

Buglife · 26/01/2018 12:25

I just accidentally googled Esther McVey to have a look and was a bit surprised to think a Tory MP would be dating someone from Geordie Shore and be selling weight loss shakes.

pastabest · 26/01/2018 12:38

I lost a shit load of weight whilst pregnant, a combination of appetite reducing nausea until nearly the third trimester and a much better diet/less wine.

I was lighter the day after I gave birth than I had been for years. I hate to think that in the weeks that followed people may have been judging me for prioritising my body over my baby.

Sadly I put it all back on again eating biscuits while breastfeeding.

LittleLionMansMummy · 26/01/2018 13:01

I don't care for this obsession about losing your baby weight quickly. If you lose it quickly and easily, great, crack on. But there are many women who really struggle with the size and shape of their post pregnancy bodies and slebs pedalling this shit (whether it's true or not) do nothing but make the majority of women, for whom post pregnancy weight loss is a slow and arduous process, feel pretty low.

All this 'doesn't she look great, frolicking in the Med, just DAYS after giving birth' really gets up my nose - like this is what we should all aspire to. It particularly annoys me when it's carried alongside a similar picture of a different sleb essentially fat shaming them.

Pregnancy weight gain is perfectly normal and healthy. It is equally normal and healthy to take time, and sometimes never, get your pre pregnancy shape back.

14 months and still struggling here...

rightsaidfrederickII · 26/01/2018 15:23

Does the 28lbs include 8lbs of baby, a couple of pounds of placenta and a couple of pounds of amniotic fluid?

VileyRose · 26/01/2018 16:26

I've had 4 DC. Every time my stomach has gone back flat with in about 48hrs. I don't diet. I eat crap! It's just how it is.

DWPnumpties · 26/01/2018 16:28

@VileyRose my friend is like that, 4 kids hardly looks pregnant when she is then goes right back to normal!

DotCottonDotCom · 26/01/2018 16:45

I weighed less the day after I gave birth to dc1 than I did pre pregnancy Same, the nurses kept telling me no visitors in the ward. I had to keep telling them i was a patient. :/

DotCottonDotCom · 26/01/2018 16:46

^ DD2 did a number on me tho Wink

theymademejoin · 26/01/2018 16:50

I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight within a couple of days when I had my sons. However, I was at least a stone overweight until I stopped breast-feeding with my daughter.

I did nothing different with any of them and my youngest is a boy so not an age thing. I just put on different amounts of weight when pregnant. Maybe the sex of the child affects your metabolism when pregnant :-)

Mind you, I didn't quite bounce back to my pre-pregnancy shape...........

fleshmarketclose · 26/01/2018 16:58

I only ever put 8lbs on with each pregnancy and had babies weighing almost eight pounds each time. Weight just dropped off me after the birth anyway so I'd be back in my jeans to leave hospital and by the time I was discharged from the midwife at ten days I'd be a stone lighter than when I got pregnant. I always say the easiest way for me to lose weight is to have a baby.
My sisters are the same in fact I saw the skinniest sister in the delivery room half an hour after delivering dn who weighed almost ten pound and you couldn't tell she had ever been pregnant not a stretch mark nothing and he body was springing back into shape. I suppose some people are lucky and Emma Mcvey might be one of the lucky ones

2018wedding · 26/01/2018 16:58

Very unlikely that she put on 28lb in the first place, she’s been criticised throughout her pregnancy for looking like she barely put weight on and apparently wasn’t eating anywhere near as much as she should’ve. I wouldn’t say her baby was a ‘perfectly healthy’ full term weight with being born below the 9th centile either!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 26/01/2018 17:01

Why on earth would she lie about putting 28lb on? That's the average weight women put on during pregnancy imo.

Mammyloveswine · 26/01/2018 17:02

My bump went without hours of giving birth to both my sons... I was back at slimming world a week after having my youngest and am back in my pre-pregnancy clothes easily 3 weeks after having him. I have 7 pounds to lose to get back to my target weight. I'm breastfeeding and running around after a 2 year-old so I'll get there soon enough.
She has lost the weight she gained when pregnant but is very irresponsible imo to promote weight loss shakes to new mothers. Especially as she claims to be breastfeeding so should be eating a balanced healthy diet
